PHILADELPHIA - A woman has been arrested and charged with helping two prisoners escape from a Philadelphia prison earlier this week, police say. According to Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore Jr., 21-year-old Xianni Stallings helped Ameen Hurst, 18, Nasir Grant, 24, escape the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center.  Related A manhunt is underway for two inmates who officials say left their cell and escaped a Philadelphia prison through a hole in a perimeter fence. Authorities say a recorded jail phone call from one of the men before the escape helped investigators make the connection to Stallings. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner says the woman is facing multiple charges in connection to the escape. The DAO requested bail be set at $2 million, but a judge set it for $500,000. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Mother's Day is a celebration for women to celebrate their role as mothers, but for many women in Philadelphia, the day is a solemn one. As Philadelphia continues to battle its ongoing gun crime crisis, many women are mourning the loss of children who died as a result of violence. FOX 29's Steve Keeley spoke with a group of mothers treated to a spa day by Glossy Nails in North Philadelphia as they prepare to mark an emotional Mother's Day without their children. Glossy Nails Boutique and Sixx Degrees Media partnered to give the group of mothers the special day. Michelle De Jesus lost two sons to gun violence and she says Mother's Day never gets easier. She says she lost one son in the month of July and the other son in August, making the summer months difficult for her. "I know God wanted his sons so he took them, but the guns have got to stop. It's really sad," she said. Movita Johnson Harrell, a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, also lost two sons to gun violence. Movita Johnson-Harrell, who lost her own son to gun violence, discusses the recent shootings in Philadelphia.The faces of her two sons were plastered across her t-shirt and on a poster as she spoke on Good Day Philadelphia. Harrell says she has been fighting against gun violence on the front lines after her first son was killed in a case of mistaken identity.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department has made an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run in Center City, according to authorities. Dominique Murphy, 37, of West Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, and related charges after being taken in as a person of interest, police announced Thursday morning. Dominique Murray, 37 According to authorities, Murray was allegedly operating a dark gray Jeep with its headlights off on Tuesday night, speeding down JFK Boulevard in the wrong direction around 10 p.m. Officers followed the vehicle, which then sped onto the 1300 block of Arch Street, striking a woman and one of her three children as they were crossing the street. After striking them, the officers stopped to render aid and the Jeep continued, fleeing the scene. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe woman, identified as a 38-year-old, suffered severe head trauma and was initially placed in critical condition.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a shooting. According to police, the shooting occurred on the afternoon of April 23 on the 3800 block of North 13th Street in the Hunting Park section of the city. Authorities say two masked men armed with semi-automatic weapons pulled up on the two victims who were in a car on the street. Surveillance video released by police shows the moments the two suspects fired on the vehicle, drove to another street and continued firing in the direction of the victims. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, a 40-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were struck in the face and throughout their bodies, leaving them in critical condition. The suspects then fled the scene in a gray late model Toyota Camry, which has since been located by police, authorities say. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Philadelphia police at 215-686-8271 or submit an anonymous tip here.

WILMINGTON, Del. - A 43-year-old Wilmington woman has been charged after New Castle County police say she stabbed a man during a fight.According to officials, Colette Hayes was charged with one felony count of assault and one count of possession of a deadly weapon.Authorities say the incident happened early Wednesday morning, around 12:30 a.m., at the Midway Plaza Apartments. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who police say struck a woman and three children Tuesday night in Center City. The collision happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Broad and Arch streets, according to preliminary information. Chief Inspector Scott Small said the woman and two other victims were taken to Jefferson University Hospital, and a 9-year-old was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The woman is reportedly in critical condition and two other victims are in stable condition.

Reed Messer, 42, was extradited back to Delaware to face sexual abuse and rape charges.  WILMINGTON, Del. - A former educator has been sent back to Delaware after being charged with rape for a sexual relationship with a former student, Delaware State Police say. According to authorities, 42-year-old Reed Messer became the subject of an investigation in December 2022 when State Police received a report from the Delaware Division of Family Services alleging the former teacher had a sexual relationship with a juvenile student at Stanton Middle School in Wilmington nearly a decade prior. Troopers say an investigation revealed Messer had sexual relations with the student in a relationship that began in October 2014 and lasted for about two months. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOn April 26, troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Messer, who moved to South Carolina, authorities say. Law enforcement in South Carolina found Messer at her residence and took her into custody, according to officials. State Police say Messer was extradited back to Delaware on Monday and charged with sexual abuse of a child and rape. 

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia mother has become an advocate for gun laws after the shooting death of her son in the city. Meredith Elizalde lost her only child Nicolas, 14, when he was gunned down while leaving a football scrimmage near Roxborough High School. Four other teens were also injured in the shooting that erupted on the city street in September 2022. As she prepares for her first Mother's Day without her son, she's also pleading with the public to help find one of the suspects in her son's murder, 17-year-old Dayron Burney-Thorn. Burney-Thorn is being sought on charges of murder, conspiracy, four counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in relation to the shooting.

NEWARK, Del. - The Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking that they say took place in a gym parking lot in New Castle County Sunday afternoon. Just before 3 p.m., police say a 31-year-old woman was carjacked as she was parking her Dodge Durango in the Edge Fitness parking lot located at 2800 Fashion Center Boulevard in Newark. Authorities say as the victim exited her vehicle with her car keys in hand, an unknown suspect approached her and attempted to grab her keys. After a physical struggle, police say the suspect was able to gain control of the keys after shoving the victim to the ground. The first suspect then entered the driver's seat of the Durango before a second suspect entered the front passenger seat.
