A widow is devastated after the husband she was 'inseparable' from in 53 years of marriage died without her by his side due to coronavirus.
Peter and Marion Atkin, from Hull, spent most of their lives together before Covid-19 separated them. On April 23, Peter was admitted to Castle Hill Hospital to receive treatment for lung cancer.
He had been diagnosed in late February, but the disease had rapidly spread to his neck and face and his illness was soon designated as stage four cancer, Hull Live reports.
The day after he arrived at the hospital, he tested positive for Covid-19 and was moved to the coronavirus ward. His wife Marion, 73, could not visit him because hospital visits were banned at the time.
