COLOMBO (News 1st) – The President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Saliya Peiris PC states that Sri Lanka's Police force have deteriorated in many aspects, which is exemplified by many incident taking place.Referring to the Police manhandling two ladies who were protesting being manhandled, a senior officer of the WPC being held by her neck and a man being locked up for the non-possession of his NIC, the BASL President said that the incidents are examples of Police brutality.
He added that such incidents of Police brutality continues because of the failure and the lethargic attitude of those who have the power and authority to deal with them. .
