NEWARK, Del. - Authorities say a woman suspected of shooting another woman at a Delaware apartment complex was critically wounded by police who confronted her.The New Castle County police department says the armed woman was firing a gun when two officers encountered her at the apartment complex in Newark on Friday night. Police say both officers opened fire on the woman, hitting her in the chest. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESShe was taken to a hospital, where she was in critical condition. Investigators believe the woman had shot a 26-year-old woman during an argument. The other woman is also in critical condition.

NEW YORK - A mother of three young children was being questioned by police on Monday after the kids were found unconscious along the Coney Island shoreline in New York and later died in an apparent drowning.The children were a 3-month-old baby, a 4-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old boy, FOX 5 New York reported, citing police officials. New York Police Department officers responded to an apartment at around 1:40 a.m. local time after family members called 911 from a different location with concerns that their relative may have harmed her three young children.Officers went to the apartment but no one answered the door, according to the news outlet.

PHILADELPHIA - A child has been reunited with its mother after it was inside a car that was stolen from a driveway in Fox Chase, police say. The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victim's Unit is investigating the incident. Authorities say a baby was inside a Nissan Rogue taken from the 800 block of Arnold Street in the Fox Chase section of the city. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, police tracked the mother's AirPods that were in the vehicle, which led them to find it at Castor and Griffith Streets in Rhawnhurst. Police did not provide any additional information but say the case remains under investigation.

TRUCKEE, Calif. - The unsolved disappearance of Kiely Rodni prompted several Northern California law enforcement agencies to take a closer look at registered sex offenders in the area as the search for the missing teen nears week two.The sweeps to see if sex offenders are in compliance with law enforcement occurred throughout the Truckee and North Tahoe area Thursday and resulted in one arrest for charges not related to Kiely's case, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Charges are expected to be filed on a second person, who also is not related to the teen's disappearance.The operation also found several sex registrants in violation of their terms, the sheriff's office said.Meanwhile, many young people who attended the same party as Kiely, 16, in Truckee on the night she vanished are remaining tight-lipped, according to a report from the New York Post, Several hundred people attended the gathering at a campground on the night of August 5.

NEWARK, Del. - Two Maryland filmmakers known for helping expand commercial advertising and the film and television industry in the Baltimore-Washington area have died in a car accident in Delaware, according to authorities and an associate.Martin Whittier, 37, and Nate Brubaker, 27, died Thursday night after a box truck collided with their car, which Delaware State Police said had become disabled in a lane on a stretch of Interstate 95 near Newark, The Baltimore Sun reported. The truck struck the car from behind — pushing it toward the shoulder — and then caught fire, pinning the men inside their vehicle, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - Saturday in Philadelphia dawned violent, as an 18-year-old was shot and killed, while a man was stabbed and another man was injured in a separate shooting.Officials said the 18-year-old was shot early Saturday morning, a little before a.m., on the 2000 block of North 22nd Street. He sustained a gunshot wound to his rib cage and died at the scene.

PHILADELPHIA - Temperatures that feel like they're over 100 will stick around through Tuesday night, until Wednesday's showers and thunderstorms break the heatwave. Forecasters say the heat and humidity combined made temperatures feel like 105 across the Delaware Valley and even down most of the East Coast.A weak front will move in as storms roll through parts of Chester County on Wednesday. Norristown, Newtown, and Abington are in for some heavy downpours, forecasters say.Overnight temperatures will drop in to the 70s with a few scattered storms, which could stick around for Thursday, too. Wednesday will mark the ninth day of the heatwave with the high expected to be 91.

SKYFOX over homes in New Jersey after a drought watch was issued for the entire state.  NEW JERSEY - Residents and businesses in the state of New Jersey are being urged to conserve water as the state deals with a drought caused by days of extreme heat. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced the statewide drought on Tuesday in a Facebook post. "We urge residents and businesses to conserve water as persistent dry and hot conditions continue to stress water supplies throughout the state," the agency wrote on Facebook. "These measures can help avoid more serious and restrictive drought conditions." To save water inside the home, the agency recommends taking five-minute showers, turning the water off while brushing your teeth, running the washing machine and dishwasher only when it's full and taking care of household leaks. RELATED HEADLINESAccording to the National Integrated Drought Information System, the drought concerns are not just isolated to New Jersey. The weather agency says 234.3 million acres of crops in the United States are experiencing drought conditions this week This is a developing story.
