Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has warned that Covid-19 is spreading disproportionately among younger people. Dr Glynn's comments come after 334 new cases of the virus were confirmed yesterday.
No further deaths linked to the virus were reported. As the number of new Covid-19 cases continues to rise, Dr Glynn issued a specific appeal to teenagers and people in their 20s and 30s to adhere to the public health guidelines.
He said over the last two months, people aged between 15 and 34 have accounted for 40% of cases, and described this as a disproportionate spread.
