Just 6% of people want to see a return to how Britain’s economy worked before the coronavirus crisis, new polling has found.
A new YouGov poll shows 31% of the public want big changes in how the economy is run. A further 28% want moderate changes - and just 6% want no changes at all.
But some 44% of those polled were pessimistic when they think about the future of the economy. More than 350 business and community leaders have urged the government to create a fairer economy after Covid-19.
The ‘build back better’ group has called for a recovery plan that includes high-quality public services, good jobs, protection for the planet and a reduction in inequality.
