The number of lives lost to Covid-19 in UK hospitals has risen by 190. Today health authorities released the heartbreaking figure, with 178 deaths in England, nine in Wales, none in Scotland and three in Northern Ireland.
Last Monday there were 212 confirmed coronavirus fatalities in hospitals, while a fortnight ago the figure was 185. A month ago, on October 23, there were 167 Covid-19 fatalities in UK hospitals.
The UK's official death toll last night stood at 55,024 after 398 new victims were announced in all settings by the Department of Health.
Later today the Prime Minister will deliver a televised address, in which he is expected to outline his plan for bringing England out of lockdown.
