The coronavirus has claimed the lives of another 608 people in the UK - taking the total to 55,838. There have also been a further 11,299 cases reported in the latest daily figures, down by almost half from a week ago.
A total of 1,538,794 have now tested positive in the UK since the pandemic began. It comes after a new map and table reveal the areas of England that are predicted to be coronavirus hotspots when the lockdown ends, putting them at risk of Tier 2 or 3 restrictions.
For months, local authorities in the North have had the highest rates in the country, but infections are rising in the South, especially in Kent and east London.
