Students made to clean up beach after police break up boozy lockdown party

Some 38 exchange students of different nationalities have been forced to clean a beach after officers found they had gathered there illegally for a party.

The incident took place when local residents called the police about a large number of people who had gathered on the Carnota Beach in the city of A Coruna, in the north-western Spanish region of Galicia for an alcohol-fuelled party, breaking lockdown rules.

Officers went to the scene and the group of youngsters said they were living in the cities of A Coruna and Santiago de Compostela and had decided to meet up on social media.

Local media report a lot of them did not know each other but had heard about the event on social media. The group included people from Colombia, Brazil, Argentina
