7 children removed from Bucks County trailer home with 'unsanitary' conditions, police say

WEST ROCKHILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Seven children were removed from their home in Bucks County after officers found them to be living in "unsanitary" and "unsafe" conditions, police say. According to the Pennridge Regional Police Department, on April 23, 2023, officers responded to the 600 block of Roseann Lane in West Rockhill Township for a report of three children entering an abandoned trailer. Officers returned the children to their home and found inadequate living conditions, including a pad lock on the refrigerator. Authorities say the children's parents said the lock was put there because the family had little money and they wanted to prevent the children from eating all the food. Responding officers filed a report with Bucks County Children and Youth before returning with a representative from the department later in the day. While investigating, four more children were found hidden in a back bedroom in the trailer home, police say. STONE HARBOR, N.J. - A local girl is recovering from what officials believe to be a shark bite she suffered while surfing along the Jersey coast days before beachgoers head to the water for the unofficial start of summer.Maggie Drozdowski, 15, said she was surfing with a friend off the beach near 109th Street in Stone Harbor when she felt something wrap around her foot and try to tug her under. Police: Bystander comes to aid of Deptford officer put in chokehold by man during mall struggle

DEPTFORD, N.J. - A man put a police officer in a chokehold before a bystander came to his aid during a struggle at a New Jersey mall, police said.Deptford Township police said officers were sent to the Deptford Mall just after 7:30 p.m. Friday on a report of a disorderly man allegedly harassing patrons.A uniformed officer found the man on the second floor of the mall and asked him to leave multiple times but he refused to do so and "allegedly became confrontational," eventually taking a fighting stance, police said.As the officer tried to arrest him on defiant trespass and disorderly conduct charges, a struggle ensued during which the man was able to put a chokehold on the officer, "effectively cutting off" his blood and oxygen supply, police said.During the struggle, a bystander interceded and helped the officer escape the chokehold and get the man into handcuffs, police said.
