IndyRef2 should be on the political agenda, a poll has revealed. Instead they want elected members to focus on the country’s recovery from Covid-19, the economy and public services.
The survey from Survation suggests 70 per cent of people want a second independence campaign to be shelved ahead of the Holyrood elections in May.
Among those who voted SNP in the last general election, only one in four think breaking away from the UK should be a priority.And 49 per cent of voters who backed the Nats in 2019 said another referendum was not important at this time.
The poll, commissioned by pro-UK campaign group Scotland In Union, comes ahead of the SNP’s publication this week of a second referendum Bill in Parliament.
