PHILADELPHIA - Three suspects are being sought after a man was found shot and killed inside a car in Southwest Philadelphia early Saturday morning.The 38-year-old man was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the driver's seat when police arrived to the 7700 block of Lindbergh Avenue around 2:30 a.m.He was pronounced dead at the scene, which was directly outside the International City Apartments.MORE HEADLINES:Police say three male suspected were seen fleeing the area in a gray Jeep Liberty after the shooting.A car with several bullet holes, and a blown out driver's side window was being investigated by police. No arrests have been made, and no weapons recovered.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's St. Patrick's Day weekend began with more violence as gunfire erupted into a triple shooting in the city's Belmont section late Friday night.More than 20 shell casings were found when police responded to the scene of the shooting on the 1100 block of North 40th Street just before midnight.Police say three men in their 20s were struck, and transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - A shooting on Atlantic City's boardwalk ended with the death of a man, and a suspect in custody early Saturday morning.Police found the gunshot victim just outside Johnny Rocket's restaurant, which is connected to Bally's Casino, around 1:55 a.m.MORE HEADLINES:The man was pronounced dead.

PHILADELPHIA - Hours after a batch of recruits graduated the police academy to join Temple's police force, two incidents happened on campus that underscored the safety challenges facing the school. According to Temple police, a person with a gun was spotted by a security officer inside the cafeteria of Morgan Hall and was arrested by responding officers. Around the same time, police responded to a report of two individuals firing pellet guns at people near the intersection of Willington and Berks streets. Authorities have not reported any arrests. Temple University added eight new officers to its force on Friday.

MANHATTAN, New York - A civilian helped catch an armed suspect Thursday, who was fleeing from police in New York City. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of New York, the suspect, Jason Fleming, was arrested on March 16 after brandishing loaded weapons following a dispute in a crowded bodega in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.Surveillance video shows Fleming, 39, outside the bodega pulling back his coat momentarily to reveal a rifle that had been swung over his shoulder.Police officers then approached the suspect after a witness called 911, and Fleming took off running down the sidewalk. In the footage, the citizen pushes the suspect into a nearby fence.

A 55-year-old woman fought to get the gun away from her son and was shot herself after he killed two Edmonton Police Service officers who were responding to a domestic violence call in their home overnight Thursday.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing murder charges after police say he stabbed two people blocks apart in less than a week.DShawn Crawford, 28, was arrested Friday and charged with murder, attemper murder, aggravated assault, and related charges. Police believe on Feb. 24 Crawford stabbed a man in the head and body around 5:30 a.m.

UNITED KINGDOM - A man, who returned to the crime scene after murdering a father of two, has been sentenced to life in prison.The murder investigation was launched by Essex Police last July, after 44-year-old Adrian Ellingford was seriously assaulted at a residence in Chelmsford, England. Ellingford died as a result of multiple stab wounds.According to police, Marek Hecko, 26, approached the murder scene while "heavily intoxicated," carrying a bottle of brandy.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a deadly triple shooting that erupted on the streets of Philadelphia late Thursday night. According to officials, the shooting occurred on the 5100 block of Leiper Street at 11 p.m. Authorities say responding officers found three gunshot victims on the street. A 27-year-old man, identified as Tsiahjard Richards, was shot multiple times in the stomach, back, torso and buttocks, police say.

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University and Philadelphia police are set to graduate new police officers as the city continues to deal with violent crime. The officers will graduate on Friday morning at McGonigle Hall. The addition of eight new officers brings the Temple Police force to more than 100, with the addition of 35 security officers in collaboration with the Philadelphia Police Department. This comes just one month after Temple University Police Sgt. Chris Fitzgerald was fatally shot in the line of duty while chasing suspects.  Related Sgt.

PHILADELPHIA - Two teens were shot and injured in Philadelphia early Friday morning, police say. According to authorities, officers with the 22nd District responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 24th and Ridge Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Police say officers found two teenagers injured by gunfire. Officials say a 16-year-old was shot in the arm and an 18-year-old was shot multiple times, including in the back. The two were taken to Temple Hospital, where the 16-year-old was placed in stable condition and the 18-year-old was placed in critical condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESChief Inspector Scott Small says another crime scene was found in the area of 24th and Jefferson, where five spent shell casings were discovered. Authorities also say a Hyundai sedan in the area had the passenger side rear window broken and the driver's door was open. According to investigators, the car's owner told police someone had just broken into the vehicle, which had a broken steering column. Police are investigating to see if the two injured teens were attempting to steal the car. 

One of the police officers killed in Edmonton was about to be a father for the first time and the other was called a “snow angel” for going beyond the call of duty to help people.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is fighting for his life after police say he was stabbed twice near Temple University's besieged North Philadelphia campus. Investigators say the 25-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and back on the 1200 block of Diamond Street around 8 p.m. Responding officers from the Philadelphia Police Department rushed the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in critical condition. No arrests were reported immediately following the stabbing.

PHILADELPHIA - A man and a woman were both shot Thursday evening in Philadelphia, according to police. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 600 block of South 53rd Street around 6:30 p.m. for reports of gunshots. Police found a 20-year-old man shot five times, including once in the back and chest.

PHILADELPHIA - Federal authorities are searching for a man who they say threatened to blow up a Philadelphia bank during a robbery.Investigators say the suspect, described as a 5-foot-7 heavyset white man, entered the PNC Bank on the 1001 block of East Erie Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect, dressed in dark clothes with a face covering and gloves, handed the bank teller a note that authorities say threatened to detonate a concealed explosive device. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank, police said.

PHILADELPHIA - A teenager is fighting for his life after police say he was shot multiple times in Philadelphia's Tacony neighborhood on Thursday afternoon. The broad daylight shooting happened on the 7100 block of Cottage Avenue just after 3:30 p.m., according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Responding officers found the 18-year-old victim suffering from four gunshot wounds throughout the body and rushed him to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he was placed in critical condition. No arrests were reported immediately following the shooting.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman and a dog were both transported to medical centers for treatment after an incident in Philadelphia, according to police. Authorities say on Thursday morning, just before 10:40 a.m., police responded to the 5700 block of North Park Avenue in the Fern Rock section of the city.  According to police, a 61-year-old woman was attacked by a pit bull and sustained several bite marks. Officials say a 62-year-old man with a license to carry witnessed the attack and shot the dog a single time. MORE HEADLINES: Medics transported the woman to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment, according to police. Authorities say the dog was transported to an animal hospital.Police have not released information about the condition of the woman or dog. The Department of Public Health was notified about the incident, and police say the investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Delaware school resource officer arrested a student at a high school after the teen was found with a gun, state police say. According to authorities, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning around 9:00 a.m.

CRANFORD, N.J. -  Police in New Jersey are hoping to identify a "person of interest" who was caught on video leaving a dead cat in a resident’s mailbox. The incident was reported on March 12 just after 10 p.m. at a home in Cranford and was reported the next morning, according to authorities. The Cranford Police Department shared video footage from a home security camera on social media, which shows the person – who appears to be male – walking with something in their hand up the driveway.The person is then seen walking away from the home, and down the sidewalk. In footage shared by the Cranford Police Department, the individual is seen walking down the sidewalk and up the resident’s driveway before leaving a dead cat in the mailbox.

PHILADELPHIA - A shooting in North Philadelphia has left a man critically injured and fighting for his life. According to police, officers responded to the 2700 block of North Orkney Street in the city's North Philadelphia section for reports of a person with a gun early Thursday morning at 6:45 a.m. Authorities say a 43-year-old man was shot seven times in the upper part of his body. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESMedics transported the man to Temple University Hospital, where he is in critical condition, per police. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and active, according to authorities.

UPPER MORELAND, Pa. - Authorities in Montgomery County are searching for an armed robbery suspect who they believe could be behind a rash of similar crimes. The Upper Moreland Police Department shared video of a masked man entering the Sunoco on Easton Road in Willow Grove around 1 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say the man used a handgun to force the store clerk to hand over $400 in cash and fled the gas station in a Nissan Rouge with tinted windows and a roof rack. Police in Upper Moreland and neighboring townships are investigating if the suspect is responsible for other recent gunpoint robberies. "Our concern is that somebody is going to get hurt before we can catch him," Lt.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is expected to recover after police say he was shot inside a Philadelphia KFC restaurant on Wednesday night. Investigators say the 20-year-old man was shot once in the arm while in the dining area of the popular fried chicken chain on the 300 block of North Broad Street. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department brought the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in stable condition. Police have not said if there were any other customers in the dining area when the shooting happened. No arrests have been reported.

Dio Garcia of Philadelphia was arrested in Bensalem.  BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Bensalem Township Police Department is touting the success of what they call proactive police work after an armed robbery suspect wanted in Philadelphia was arrested during a traffic stop in the Bucks County town. Authorities say on Tuesday, just before 10 a.m., patrol officers saw a 2013 Ford Edge commit a violation while going south on Route 1. According to police, the officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with 40-year-old Dio Garcia from Philadelphia. A check of the crime system revealed the car Garcia was driving was listed as a felony vehicle with an occupant wanted for a point-of-gun robbery, officials say. Police say Garcia was also wanted out of Florida on a warrant for a probation violation. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESGarcia was taken into police custody and the Ford Edge was towed by police, authorities say. After a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, a search led to the finding of a container of suspected marijuana and a loaded .40 caliber Beretta handgun, officials say. The gun, which was reported stolen out of Delaware, matched the description of the weapon used in the armed robbery in Philadelphia, per police. Police say Garcia faces several charges in Bensalem and Philadelphia Police are obtaining an arrest warrant for the gunpoint robbery.

BENSALEM, Pa. - A young girl awoke to a terrifying nightmare when police say she found a grown man beside her in her own bed.Police were responding to a burglary in progress on the 300 block of Thunder Circle in Bensalem when they were alerted to the incident.The 9-year-old victim ran out of her room when she woke up next to a burglary suspect wearing just underwear, according to authorities. She told police that the man touched her inappropriately.MORE HEADLINES:She ran to tell her father, who says he found the man sitting on his daughter's bed wrapped in a blanket.The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Paddy Patrick Purcell, fled before police arrived.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured. Police say officers responded to Pennsylvania Hospital for a 19-year-old gunshot victim who was dropped off by a private vehicle early Wednesday morning just before 3 a.m. According to authorities, two suspects were inside the vehicle, believed to be a Nissan, with the victim. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficials say the suspects fired multiple times, hitting the victim throughout his body on the 3200 block of Wharton Street in the South Philadelphia section of the city. The man has been placed in critical condition, authorities say. The investigation is ongoing and active, according to police. 

HATBORO, Pa. - A shelter-in-place has been issued in Hatboro after an armed man barricaded himself inside an apartment, authorities say.According to Hatboro Police Chief James Gardner, the incident began just after 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening when officers were dispatched for a report of a man with a gun on North York Road.Police say they were responding to reports that the man was pointing a gun at passing traffic.An officer responded to the location and made contact with the man, who then ran into a nearby apartment, officials say.Gardner says officers have attempted to contact the man throughout the night, but he has been unresponsive."At this point, our goal is to get this individual out of the apartment in a peaceful manner and resolve this so no one is injured," Gardner said.Officials say no shots were fired, but officers are still working to negotiate with the man.A shelter-in-place was issued for areas near the apartment as a precaution, authorities say.Nearby school districts were notified about the shelter-in-place and the Hatboro-Horsham School District closed all schools and offices for the day. Several roads in the area have been closed as police continue to investigate. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area. This is a developing story.

HATBORO, Pa. - All Hatboro-Horsham School District schools and offices are closed Tuesday due to a shelter-in-place designated for heavy police activity.According to a Twitter post from the district, the schools will be closed due to "significant police activity" in Hatboro, which sparked a shelter-in-place in parts of Hatboro. The district advised school personnel, students and families to avoid the area. The district says the Hatboro Police Department is working to resolve an incident in an apartment at the intersection of York Road and Moreland Avenue, leading to street closures throughout the area. Officials say residents who live in the area are also under a shelter-in-place. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - A former hairdresser, a retired school teacher and a longtime retail worker are among the dozens of new officers who will graduate the Philadelphia Police Academy next week. The group of 39 new officers who will swear and oath to protect and serve are largely younger men and women, but a few middle-aged recruits are excited about a second-career."I was actually praying for this job since 2014," 47-year-old Rosmeyra Maldonado told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that they say fatally struck a woman in West Philadelphia Tuesday night. Shortly after 8 p.m., police were called to the intersection of 49th Street and Lancaster Avenue for reports of an auto accident involving a pedestrian. Responding officers located a 58-year-old woman who had been struck by a vehicle.MORE HEADLINES Medics pronounced the woman dead on scene just before 8:30 p.m.Authorities describe the vehicle as a white Mitsubishi Outlander. Authorities say the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed through the intersection when it made contact with the victim.

On Monday, officials said that Megan Sta A mother and grandfather in Iowa were arrested after allegedly killing a newborn baby.The Norwalk, Iowa police department said in a press release that Megan Staude, 25, gave birth to a baby in the last days of February. Investigators say that with the help of her father, 64-year-old Rodney Staude, the baby was "left to die" and disposed of along a street in the town.Police began an investigation on March 8 after being contacted with "concerns for the safety of a child," and located the baby deceased on March 9 "along the road in the 5300 block of Delaware Street in Warren County." BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. - Several credit card skimmers discovered at local gas stations has prompted a police department to take further action to protect their citizens.Police say the skimmers were found on several gas station pumps at two separate locations in Penndel, a borough in Bucks County:No devices were found at a third location in town, according to authorities.MORE HEADLINES:Police say the source of the skimmers is not known at this time. However, an investigation has been launched, and additional checks are being added."We have been frequently checking the pumps for skimmers and working with the business owners to prevent them in the first place.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia police officer shot and injured on the job last month is finally heading home after weeks of recovering in the hospital.Officer Giovanni Maysonet was attempting to stop two suspects fleeing a traffic stop on 60th Street on February 8 when a physical struggle ensued.Police say one suspect allegedly fired at least two shots at the officer, hitting him in the chest of his bulletproof vest and an unprotected part of his abdomen. In an audio recording of the incident obtained by FOX 29, Officer Maysonet is heard saying, "I think I'm shot twice.

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. - Imagine getting up to the register after a day of shopping only to find your wallet missing - a terrifying revelation police say is becoming more and more common in one Pennsylvania county."Distraction pick pocket" crimes are on the rise in Tredyffrin Township, a township in Chester County, according to the local police department.As one suspect distracts an unsuspecting victim, other suspects steal wallets and possibly other items from their purses.Police say innocent women have been the target of such crimes at the Paoli Acme and TJ Maxx in the Gateway Shopping Center.MORE HEADLINES:In each case, the suspects used the victims' credit cards to make large purchases at nearby retail stores.Four suspects have been caught on surveillance in connection to the TJ Maxx incident.Police don't believe the cases are linked at this point in time, but are asking for help to identify the suspects.

PHILADELPHIA - A deadly discovery has launched a shooting investigation in North Philadelphia Tuesday morning.Police found a body laying in a vacant lot when they were called to the 3000 block of North 16th Street around 2:30 a.m.The 28-year-old, who has not been identified, was bleeding from the head and leg, according to authorities.MORE HEADLINES:Three spent shell casings were also found at the scene.A motive is unknown, and a suspect description has yet to be released.

PHILADELPHIA - A car riddled with bullets was found empty with the engine still running, sparking an investigation into what ended up being a deadly triple shooting.Police were called to the 1000 block of North Marshall Street in Northern Liberties for reports of gunshots just before 11 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A man has been taken into police custody after he drove a minivan into the front of Philadelphia Police headquarters. The crash happened just before 5 a.m.
