PHILADELPHIA - Four people are injured, one critically, after several shots were fired just feet from a football field on Temple University's campus Sunday morning.The quadruple shooting erupted around 2 a.m. near 10th and Diamond Streets, which is directly across from the Temple University Chodoff Football Field. Police say four people were struck by gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - Hours after a batch of recruits graduated the police academy to join Temple's police force, two incidents happened on campus that underscored the safety challenges facing the school. According to Temple police, a person with a gun was spotted by a security officer inside the cafeteria of Morgan Hall and was arrested by responding officers. Around the same time, police responded to a report of two individuals firing pellet guns at people near the intersection of Willington and Berks streets. Authorities have not reported any arrests. Temple University added eight new officers to its force on Friday.

MANHATTAN, New York - A civilian helped catch an armed suspect Thursday, who was fleeing from police in New York City. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of New York, the suspect, Jason Fleming, was arrested on March 16 after brandishing loaded weapons following a dispute in a crowded bodega in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.Surveillance video shows Fleming, 39, outside the bodega pulling back his coat momentarily to reveal a rifle that had been swung over his shoulder.Police officers then approached the suspect after a witness called 911, and Fleming took off running down the sidewalk. In the footage, the citizen pushes the suspect into a nearby fence.

A 55-year-old woman fought to get the gun away from her son and was shot herself after he killed two Edmonton Police Service officers who were responding to a domestic violence call in their home overnight Thursday.

EASTON, Wash. - A Yakima man, his cousin and 10-year-old daughter died after troopers say a semi crossed the median and crashed head-on into their sedan Thursday on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass. His wife and son were critically injured.A verified GoFundMe post identified the victims as Justin Poole, 40, his cousin Michaela Buckholt, 27, and his daughter, 10-year-old Chelsea, all of Yakima.Justin's wife, Nikki, and 6-year-old son, Maddox, were taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. UNITED KINGDOM - A man, who returned to the crime scene after murdering a father of two, has been sentenced to life in prison.The murder investigation was launched by Essex Police last July, after 44-year-old Adrian Ellingford was seriously assaulted at a residence in Chelmsford, England. Ellingford died as a result of multiple stab wounds.According to police, Marek Hecko, 26, approached the murder scene while "heavily intoxicated," carrying a bottle of brandy.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Officials with the Bensalem Township Department of Public Safety say an accidental fire inside a home left a man critically injured. Authorities say 911 dispatchers got a call from Thomas Risich, a 76-year-old man who lives on the 700 block of Kings Lane, about a fire in his living room. According to officials, Risich told dispatchers he was wheelchair bound and he was in a bathroom in the back of the home with no way to escape. Bensalem Police and firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the scene and saw heavy smoke coming from the home, per authorities. Firefighters were able to access the home through the back bathroom window, and they found Risich unresponsive on the floor. Authorities say he was removed through a bathroom window and transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital before being airlifted to Jefferson Hospital, where he was placed in critical condition. Battalion Chief Rob Sponheimer conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire and it is believed the fire was accidental, likely caused by a faulty space heater, officials say. The investigation is ongoing.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a deadly triple shooting that erupted on the streets of Philadelphia late Thursday night. According to officials, the shooting occurred on the 5100 block of Leiper Street at 11 p.m. Authorities say responding officers found three gunshot victims on the street. A 27-year-old man, identified as Tsiahjard Richards, was shot multiple times in the stomach, back, torso and buttocks, police say.

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University and Philadelphia police are set to graduate new police officers as the city continues to deal with violent crime. The officers will graduate on Friday morning at McGonigle Hall. The addition of eight new officers brings the Temple Police force to more than 100, with the addition of 35 security officers in collaboration with the Philadelphia Police Department. This comes just one month after Temple University Police Sgt. Chris Fitzgerald was fatally shot in the line of duty while chasing suspects.  Related Sgt.

PHILADELPHIA - Two teens were shot and injured in Philadelphia early Friday morning, police say. According to authorities, officers with the 22nd District responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 24th and Ridge Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Police say officers found two teenagers injured by gunfire. Officials say a 16-year-old was shot in the arm and an 18-year-old was shot multiple times, including in the back. The two were taken to Temple Hospital, where the 16-year-old was placed in stable condition and the 18-year-old was placed in critical condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESChief Inspector Scott Small says another crime scene was found in the area of 24th and Jefferson, where five spent shell casings were discovered. Authorities also say a Hyundai sedan in the area had the passenger side rear window broken and the driver's door was open. According to investigators, the car's owner told police someone had just broken into the vehicle, which had a broken steering column. Police are investigating to see if the two injured teens were attempting to steal the car.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is fighting for his life after police say he was stabbed twice near Temple University's besieged North Philadelphia campus. Investigators say the 25-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and back on the 1200 block of Diamond Street around 8 p.m. Responding officers from the Philadelphia Police Department rushed the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in critical condition. No arrests were reported immediately following the stabbing.

PHILADELPHIA - A man and a woman were both shot Thursday evening in Philadelphia, according to police. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 600 block of South 53rd Street around 6:30 p.m. for reports of gunshots. Police found a 20-year-old man shot five times, including once in the back and chest.

HALTOM CITY, Texas - A 17-year-old who killed an Uber Eats driver in Haltom City accepted a plea deal in court on Thursday and apologized to the family of the victim.Police say Ryan Munsie Graham was stabbed to death by two teens who were attempting to rob her while she delivered food to an apartment complex on Northern Cross Boulevard in 2021.PREVIOUS COVERAGE: 2 juveniles arrested for the murder of Haltom City Uber Eats delivery driverThe teens, who were 14 at the time of the killing, were charged with capital murder.On Thursday, 17-year-old Zakariya De Wayne Marshall accepted a plea deal to downgrade his charge from capital murder to murder.Marshall was sentenced to 45 years behind bars. He is eligible for parole after 22 years.After the plea deal was announced, Graham's family addressed Marshall directly on Zoom. Family members say Graham had four different jobs at the time of her death."The night of January 27, 2021 was the worst day of my life," said Donna Munsie, Graham's relative who now looks after her children.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman and a dog were both transported to medical centers for treatment after an incident in Philadelphia, according to police. Authorities say on Thursday morning, just before 10:40 a.m., police responded to the 5700 block of North Park Avenue in the Fern Rock section of the city.  According to police, a 61-year-old woman was attacked by a pit bull and sustained several bite marks. Officials say a 62-year-old man with a license to carry witnessed the attack and shot the dog a single time. MORE HEADLINES: Medics transported the woman to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment, according to police. Authorities say the dog was transported to an animal hospital.Police have not released information about the condition of the woman or dog. The Department of Public Health was notified about the incident, and police say the investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Delaware school resource officer arrested a student at a high school after the teen was found with a gun, state police say. According to authorities, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning around 9:00 a.m.

CRANFORD, N.J. -  Police in New Jersey are hoping to identify a "person of interest" who was caught on video leaving a dead cat in a resident’s mailbox. The incident was reported on March 12 just after 10 p.m. at a home in Cranford and was reported the next morning, according to authorities. The Cranford Police Department shared video footage from a home security camera on social media, which shows the person – who appears to be male – walking with something in their hand up the driveway.The person is then seen walking away from the home, and down the sidewalk. In footage shared by the Cranford Police Department, the individual is seen walking down the sidewalk and up the resident’s driveway before leaving a dead cat in the mailbox.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man serving out a 400-year sentence has just walked out of prison a free man after three decades thanks to a re-examination of his case. "As prosecutors, our only agenda is to promote public safety in our community and to ensure that justice is served," Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor said in a statement.

UPPER MORELAND, Pa. - Authorities in Montgomery County are searching for an armed robbery suspect who they believe could be behind a rash of similar crimes. The Upper Moreland Police Department shared video of a masked man entering the Sunoco on Easton Road in Willow Grove around 1 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say the man used a handgun to force the store clerk to hand over $400 in cash and fled the gas station in a Nissan Rouge with tinted windows and a roof rack. Police in Upper Moreland and neighboring townships are investigating if the suspect is responsible for other recent gunpoint robberies. "Our concern is that somebody is going to get hurt before we can catch him," Lt.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is expected to recover after police say he was shot inside a Philadelphia KFC restaurant on Wednesday night. Investigators say the 20-year-old man was shot once in the arm while in the dining area of the popular fried chicken chain on the 300 block of North Broad Street. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department brought the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in stable condition. Police have not said if there were any other customers in the dining area when the shooting happened. No arrests have been reported.

Dio Garcia of Philadelphia was arrested in Bensalem.  BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Bensalem Township Police Department is touting the success of what they call proactive police work after an armed robbery suspect wanted in Philadelphia was arrested during a traffic stop in the Bucks County town. Authorities say on Tuesday, just before 10 a.m., patrol officers saw a 2013 Ford Edge commit a violation while going south on Route 1. According to police, the officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with 40-year-old Dio Garcia from Philadelphia. A check of the crime system revealed the car Garcia was driving was listed as a felony vehicle with an occupant wanted for a point-of-gun robbery, officials say. Police say Garcia was also wanted out of Florida on a warrant for a probation violation. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESGarcia was taken into police custody and the Ford Edge was towed by police, authorities say. After a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, a search led to the finding of a container of suspected marijuana and a loaded .40 caliber Beretta handgun, officials say. The gun, which was reported stolen out of Delaware, matched the description of the weapon used in the armed robbery in Philadelphia, per police. Police say Garcia faces several charges in Bensalem and Philadelphia Police are obtaining an arrest warrant for the gunpoint robbery. 

PHILADELPHIA - A man has been hospitalized after he was shot on Tuesday night. Authorities say officers responded to the 4700 block of Bingham Street in the Crescentville section of the city just before 9 p.m.According to police, three armed suspects pulled a 42-year-old man from his car in a driveway. The man was shot in the neck before the suspects fled north from the driveway in a dark-colored vehicle, officials say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was placed in critical condition, according to authorities. Officials say the scene was held and no arrests have been made.

BENSALEM, Pa. - A young girl awoke to a terrifying nightmare when police say she found a grown man beside her in her own bed.Police were responding to a burglary in progress on the 300 block of Thunder Circle in Bensalem when they were alerted to the incident.The 9-year-old victim ran out of her room when she woke up next to a burglary suspect wearing just underwear, according to authorities. PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured. Police say officers responded to Pennsylvania Hospital for a 19-year-old gunshot victim who was dropped off by a private vehicle early Wednesday morning just before 3 a.m. According to authorities, two suspects were inside the vehicle, believed to be a Nissan, with the victim. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficials say the suspects fired multiple times, hitting the victim throughout his body on the 3200 block of Wharton Street in the South Philadelphia section of the city. The man has been placed in critical condition, authorities say. The investigation is ongoing and active, according to police. 

HATBORO, Pa. - A shelter-in-place has been issued in Hatboro after an armed man barricaded himself inside an apartment, authorities say.According to Hatboro Police Chief James Gardner, the incident began just after 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening when officers were dispatched for a report of a man with a gun on North York Road.Police say they were responding to reports that the man was pointing a gun at passing traffic.An officer responded to the location and made contact with the man, who then ran into a nearby apartment, officials say.Gardner says officers have attempted to contact the man throughout the night, but he has been unresponsive."At this point, our goal is to get this individual out of the apartment in a peaceful manner and resolve this so no one is injured," Gardner said.Officials say no shots were fired, but officers are still working to negotiate with the man.A shelter-in-place was issued for areas near the apartment as a precaution, authorities say.Nearby school districts were notified about the shelter-in-place and the Hatboro-Horsham School District closed all schools and offices for the day. Several roads in the area have been closed as police continue to investigate. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area. This is a developing story.

HATBORO, Pa. - All Hatboro-Horsham School District schools and offices are closed Tuesday due to a shelter-in-place designated for heavy police activity.According to a Twitter post from the district, the schools will be closed due to "significant police activity" in Hatboro, which sparked a shelter-in-place in parts of Hatboro. The district advised school personnel, students and families to avoid the area. The district says the Hatboro Police Department is working to resolve an incident in an apartment at the intersection of York Road and Moreland Avenue, leading to street closures throughout the area. Officials say residents who live in the area are also under a shelter-in-place. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - A former hairdresser, a retired school teacher and a longtime retail worker are among the dozens of new officers who will graduate the Philadelphia Police Academy next week. The group of 39 new officers who will swear and oath to protect and serve are largely younger men and women, but a few middle-aged recruits are excited about a second-career."I was actually praying for this job since 2014," 47-year-old Rosmeyra Maldonado told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that they say fatally struck a woman in West Philadelphia Tuesday night. Shortly after 8 p.m., police were called to the intersection of 49th Street and Lancaster Avenue for reports of an auto accident involving a pedestrian. Responding officers located a 58-year-old woman who had been struck by a vehicle.MORE HEADLINES Medics pronounced the woman dead on scene just before 8:30 p.m.Authorities describe the vehicle as a white Mitsubishi Outlander. Authorities say the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed through the intersection when it made contact with the victim.

Investigators say that with the help of her father, 64-year-old Rodney Staude, the baby was "left to die" and disposed of along a street in the town.Police began an investigation on March 8 after being contacted with "concerns for the safety of a child," and located the baby deceased on March 9 "along the road in the 5300 block of Delaware Street in Warren County."
