The Pfizer and Oxford vaccines are 'highly effective' at reducing Covid-19 hospitalisations, new data has revealed. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said a single dose of either jab could reduce hospitalisations by up to 80% for people over 70.
It came as the Health Secretary formally announced all over 60s can now book appointments to have their vaccination. And he said protection from the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine after 35 days is even greater than the Pfizer version.
Mr Hancock said the number of new coronavirus cases was falling but the rate of decline has slowed, urging people to "keep sticking to the rules, let's not blow it now".
