According to police, the shooting occurred on the 400 block of North 35th Street around 12:30 a.m. Officials say officers received several 911 calls reporting a shooting. Responding officers say they found an unresponsive 23-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with one gunshot wound to the neck. Police transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m., per authorities. Police say one bullet went through the first-floor window of a nearby apartment. The apartment's two occupants were asleep during the time of the shooting and they were not injured, officials say. Arson suspect who allegedly hoarded over 150 jugs of gas inside Philadelphia property arrested

PHILADELPHIA - An arson suspect who police believe hoarded hundreds of one-gallon jugs full of gasoline inside an abandoned West Philadelphia home was taken into custody on Wednesday. After more than a month on the run, investigators say 37-year-old Darren Arnold was spotted in the area of 10th street and Oregon Avenue Wednesday morning. The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested 37-year-old Darren Arnold on charges of arson and related offenses linked to "several incidents" on the 100 block of North 59th Street in August.The investigation began on August 1 when officers were called to an abandoned property on North 59th street for complaints of a strong gas smell coming from inside.RELATED HEADLINESAuthorities say 154 one-gallon milk jugs full of gasoline were found inside the property and a hazmat team was called. Neighboring homes were evacuated as crews removed the gas. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that the home had previously caught fire in March and had since been abandoned. Hours later, firefighters were called back to the property to extinguish a morning fire.

According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened just after 3 a.m. on Thursday. Authorities say 35th District officers on patrol heard multiple gunshots coming from the area of Ogontz and W Nedro Avenues. Police checked the area and received a 911 call for a report of a woman shot on the 5800 block of Ogontz Avenue, Small says. After receiving reports of the shooting, investigators learned a woman, 29, drove herself about one mile to Einstein Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police. Authorities say the woman suffered from a graze wound and is in stable condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESSmall says the woman told police that she was standing outside of a garage and tire shop on the 5900 block of Ogontz Avenue when she was shot by her "on-again, off-again" boyfriend. According to authorities, the woman said the boyfriend had an apartment inside of the garage. Police saw the man inside the property, but he refused to come out, officials say. The situation was upgraded to a barricade after multiple attempts to get him out of the building failed and the SWAT unit were called in, Small says. Authorities say as the police presence increased, the man exited the building and was taken into custody. A second man was also inside the tire shop and he is being held and questioned as a witness, according to police. Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department's non-fatal shooting unit are continuing to investigate. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for four people in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Germantown. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say 14th District officers and medics responded to calls for an automobile accident with injuries in the 5400 block of Greene Street. When first responders arrived on scene, they found an unresponsive woman on the sidewalk with severe trauma to her head and body, Small says. Authorities say medics pronounced the woman dead on scene. Small says her identity is unknown at this time and that she appears to be a woman in her 40s or 50s. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, she appeared to be wearing scrubs, but no identification was found. Investigators say a witness told police a white Chevrolet SUV traveling north on Greene Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic, jumped the curb and struck a utility pole, hitting it so hard that it split the pole in two places. After striking the pole, the car drove northbound on the curb and struck the woman walking, authorities say. Police say they believe she was dragged about 15 feet by the car before being run over. According to Small, the witness says after striking the woman, the car got back onto the northbound lane, stopped and then four people fled on foot. Authorities say they do not have any descriptions of the driver and passengers, but the vehicle is on location. Police know who the vehicle is registered to and they will be collecting evidence from the vehicle and the scene. PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a crash in Northeast Philadelphia involving a teenager behind the wheel, according to authorities. Police say a traffic officer on patrol saw a Toyota Camry being driven at a high rate of speed in the area of Grant Avenue and Bluegrass Road around 2:30 a.m. The officer began to follow the vehicle as it traveled to Welsh and Bluegrass where it almost crashed into a marked police car, authorities say. At the intersection of Welsh Road and Dewees Street, the car jumped the curb, crashed through the fence of a private home, and drove over the lawn before it was launched into the air and landed on another car, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The car then crashed into the front of two twin homes, putting a large crack in the stone in the front of the property, authorities say. The damage to the front of the properties is so extensive that inspectors have deemed it unsafe, police say. Small says the officer who was following the Camry then took the driver, a 15-year-old, into custody. Investigators say the car had been reported stolen from Northeast Philadelphia about 1 hour before. Small says speed and reckless driving were a factor in the crash.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say four teenagers are in the hospital after they were shot in North Philadelphia on Thursday morning. According to Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened just before 2 a.m.Police say officers with the 6th District responded to numerous 911 calls reporting gunshots and a shooting near 7th and Wallace Streets. When police and medics arrived on scene, they found four shooting victims in the courtyard of the Spring Garden Homes, according to authorities. Small says two of the shooting victims ran inside a property of the Spring Garden Homes after being shot. According to police, the victims were two teenage boys and two teenage girls. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say all of the teenagers are in critical but stable condition and they are expected to be okay. Small says a 16-year-old girl sustained a serious gunshot wound to the face, while a 14-year-old girl was also shot in the face. The boys, ages 13 and 15, were shot in their arms and legs, according to officials. Small says 21 spent shell casings from a semi-automatic weapon were found in the courtyard of the complex. Investigators say they believe all four of the victims were standing near the home where two of the teens live. According to police, a revolver was also found on the scene, but they do now know how it relates to the shooting. Authorities say they do not have a motive at this time, but said they will check cameras in the area. This shooting came a few hours after another quadruple shooting in West Philadelphia that left several people injured, including a 2-year-old. It also comes at a time when the city has implemented a curfew for children and teens under 18.

According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. 'A real tragedy': Off-duty Philadelphia police officer killed in Somerton crash, authorities say

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their own after an off-duty officer was killed in a crash in Somerton on Thursday. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says just before midnight, officers in the 7th District received numerous calls about a crash at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Rennard Street. According to authorities, when officers and medics arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. A Philadelphia police officer was killed in a crash while on his way home from work, authorities say. FOX 29's Steve Keeley has the latest.A 50-year-old man driving a Hyundai was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, authorities say. The vehicle that struck the officer's car was a BMW with an 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers, police say. None of the individuals in the BMW were injured and they denied medical treatment, according to officials. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say the Hyundai was traveling west on Rennard Street crossing Bustelon Avenue as the BMW was going south on Bustleton Avenue. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, jumped the curb and then struck a tree, per authorities. Police say a witness spoke to accident investigators and say the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed. Small says through the investigation, police learned the driver of the Hyundai was an active Philadelphia police officer who had just finished the night shift and was driving home in his personal vehicle. The officer was a 27-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department, according to Small. "It's a real tragedy," Small said.
