PHILADELPHIA - Authorities were called to a house in Mayfair for reports of screaming and found two partially clothed children outside and a naked boy in a dog cage inside, police said. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department made the chilling discovery at a home on the 4200 block of Glenview Street around 1 p.m. Thursday. Police found two partially clothed girls, ages four and five, standing in the rain.

PHILADELPHIA - Charges have been filed against a man shot by police during an accused screwdriver attack inside the 39th Police District building on Wednesday. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office charged Dondrick Massey-Burch Thursday with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and reckless endangerment. The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before 9:20 a.m. inside the district headquarters located on the 2200 block of West Hunting Park Avenue. Police say an officer who was working in the operations room went to speak with a man who was in the lobby wearing a mask.

PHILADELPHIA - Police shot and killed a juvenile who investigators say opened fire on officers Tuesday night in South Philadelphia. Philadelphia Police Department Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that four plainclothes officers in an unmarked were patrolling near the 1700 block of Barbara Street around 7 p.m. when they spotted two juveniles on bikes. According to investigators, officers noticed that one of the juveniles was armed with a handgun and turned on the emergency lights to confront him.

PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old. The officer in the passenger's seat identified himself as police and ordered both men to drop their weapons when one of the men fired towards the officer, Gripp said. The officer ducked behind cover as the suspect attempted to flee down Keyser Street. According to investigators, the officer that was still inside the vehicle drove after the suspect and fired once through the windshield but missed. Both suspects were uninjured and captured nearby due to a massive police response, Gripp said.Investigators believe something happened between the men before police arrived that involved more than just the two gunmen. Gripp said police are still looking for other suspects, but he did not provide a description. "It just continues to speak to level the gun violence that we're seeing almost every day in this city," Gripp said.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia police officer fired at a teen suspect when investigators say he raised a gun at police during a foot chase. According to police, officers were investigating an armed carjacking that happened on Tuesday when they approached a 17-year-old suspect on the 1400 block of Dickinson Street.The teen ran from police and allegedly pointed a handgun at the pursuing officers.

PHILADELPHIA - A massive police presence responded to a Philadelphia public school on Friday after officials say a student shot himself in the leg in the school gymnasium.Authorities were called to the Philadelphia Learning Academy on the 4300 block of Westminster Avenue around noon. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESSergeant Eric Gripp of the Philadelphia Police Department said an 18-year-old student shot himself once in the left leg in the gymnasium. The student was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, according to Gripp. Police and SWAT officers have not yet found the gun that was involved in the shooting, police said.
