The judge in charge of personal injuries cases in the High Court has said hearings will not go ahead during Level 5 restrictions unless they are urgent.
Mr Justice Kevin Cross has been dealing with a backlog of more than 300 cases created during the first lockdown. He has said only cases with a genuine urgency will now get the go ahead for the next six weeks.
Meanwhile, any action involving witnesses which has already begun will continue. The full list for the month of November will be called over remotely on Friday to decide which cases are urgent.
Mr Justice Cross warned that there must be a real emergency for a case to continue during Level 5 restrictions. Personal injury actions resumed in the court in July after being suspended for
