The incident happened around 10 a.m. on a Delta flight departing LAX. According to airport officials, the passenger opened the emergency exit door of the air test as the plane was moving away from the gate.

It then triggered the emergency slide to deploy. Airport police responded and detained the passenger; the FBI was also notified.

The plane returned to the gate and passengers were escorted off and transported to another plane. No injuries were reported. .

PHILADELPHIA - A dog found abandoned and partially paralyzed after being found on SEPTA tracks in Philadelphia has finally found a forever home. The nonprofit organization Philly Rescue Angles made a public cry for help after the dog was found in December. "Someone has literally dumped this poor dog on the train tracks, he has been laying here for two days," the organization said. "He has literally been laying his body down and the train has been going over him." Lucky's spinal cord injury left him unable to use his back legs and an influx of donations helped the organization fund surgery and rehabilitation. BRISTOL, Pa. - Quick actions from those in charge of a water treatment facility near a chemical spill along the Delaware River prevented the harmful toxins from entering the plant. Health officials in Bucks County said Sunday that between 8,100 and 12,000 gallons of a water-based latex-finishing solution spilled into the river late Friday because of a burst pipe at the Trinseo Altuglas chemical facility in Bristol Township.The midnight spill happened at low tide less than half a mile upstream from the AQUA Pennsylvania water treatment facility. AQUA President Mark Lucca said by the time he heard about the spill the plant had already been shutdown thanks in part to early warning sensors that helped them decide to shut off water intake from the river. "The first thing people are asking us is ‘is my water safe to drink?’ It absolutely is safe to drink, how do we know? Because it never got into the plant" Lucca said. PennDOT removing treacherous I-95 exit to improve safety, traffic flow

PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation said it will close a heavily trafficked exit ramp on I-95 in Philadelphia to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. Exit 27 will permanently close on April 18 and I-95 traffic headed to Bridge Street and Harbison Avenue will use exit 26 to access Aramingo Avenue. Likewise, Betsy Ross Bridge traffic will no longer use I-95 North to access Aramingo Avenue and motorists will instead continue straight onto the new Aramingo Avenue ramp. According to PennDOT, from 2017-2021 there were 30 crashes on the northbound side of Aramingo Avenue between Margaret and James strees. "Part of the goal of the I 95 reconstruction is to take exits that currently take you down onto one lane streets or residential streets and remove those," PennDOT consultant Paul Shultes said."To prepare for that we have been working now for 15 years on improving the more major streets like Aramingo Avenue and Tacony Street to handle the traffic directly from the interstate."The $267.9M project will also improve surface roads on Tacony, Bridge and James Street as well as modify traffic signals to improve traffic flow.

Police: 2 dead after daytime quadruple shooting erupts inside North Philadelphia home

PHILADELPHIA - Weekend gun violence continues in Philadelphia as a quadruple shooting leaves two people dead, and another critically injured.Four men were found shot when police responded to the 1900 block of North 19th Street just before noon Sunday.Two of the victims, ages 22 and 24, were pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital for multiple gunshot wounds.MORE HEADLINES:A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the neck, and a 32-year-old man hit twice in the leg is said to be stable.Police say three firearms were recovered at the scene, but no arrests have been made and motive is unknown at this time.The deadly shooting comes just moments after a boy, 12, was shot in the chest by his 10-year-old brother inside their Strawberry Mansion home.

MAYFAIR - A large quantity of heroin and fentanyl caused a hazmat situation in Mayfair, leaving one man dead, and a baby hospitalized, according to the DA's office, who say a woman is being charged for the alleged drug conspiracy.Authorities say around 10:35 a.m. on Friday, the fire department responded to a report of an unresponsive man in the basement of a property on the 4000 block of Teesdale Street. Police say the man, who has not yet been identified, and the basement were covered in a white powdery substance later identified by officials as heroin and fentanyl.Nearly 2 kilograms of heroin and fentanyl, along with cash, identification and cell phones were recovered from the home, according to the DA's Office.
