Head of the Health Service Executive Paul Reid has said the number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 is continuing to decrease.
Mr Reid tweeted that the number of people with the coronavirus in hospital is at 1,196, with 177 in intensive care. He said that the lower numbers "is providing much relief for our hospitals, patients & families.
It is still far too high for safety but a good sign that all of our actions are working". Yesterday, the Department of Health said there were 35 further coronavirus-related deaths and 1,047 new cases.
There were 1,221 patients with Covid-19 in hospital. The number of people in ICU was 181. Of the deaths notified to the department 29 occurred in February and six in January. Latest coronavirus stories
