England's North East is set for a local lockdown and Liverpool is also on the brink of having tough new restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19.
New data shows the local authorities in England with the highest rolling seven-day rate of new cases of Covid-19, as well as the places that have recorded sharp increases and could soon find themselves in danger of local lockdown curbs.
In addition to Liverpool, they include several places in Merseyside, North Yorkshire, Wolverhampton, Oadby and Wigston in Leicestershire, and Warrington in Cheshire.
