He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

A total of 873,784 jabs were given out by the NHS, the government said this afternoon, a second daily record in as many days.

More than 26.8 million people in Britain, or over half the adult population, have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 2.1 million have had both doses. "This mammoth team effort shows the best of Britain," Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in a Tweet on Sunday.
