The Chief Executive of the HSE has said that to date nearly 4.3 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Ireland.
In a post on Twitter, Paul Reid said that a plan to combat the Delta variant of the virus should be made with both concern and a level of confidence.
According to preliminary data, the Delta variant now accounts for around 70% of coronavirus cases in Ireland. Mr Reid said that over 2.56 million (68%) adults are partially vaccinated, while over 1.8 million adults are fully vaccinated.
He said that more than 55,000 vaccines doses were given on each of the last four days. Yesterday, 512 new Covid-19 cases were reported by the Department of Health - the highest daily number of Covid cases in over a month.
