FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. - A whale is stranded on the sand in Flagler Beach, not far from the Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area. The whale, which is approximately 15 feet in length and weighs an estimated 3,000 pounds, has beached itself several times after rescuers attempted to pull it back into the water.  A spokesperson for Flagler County tells FOX 35 News the animal is a Cuvier's beaked whale. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Cuvier's beaked whale, sometimes called "goose-beaked whales," are found in most oceans and seas worldwide and have the most extensive range of all beaked whale species.

SEATTLE - Dozens of boats were destroyed, and a man was arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire near Seattle's Ship Canal Bridge early Wednesday morning.Crews responded to a report of a boat storage facility fire at about 2 a.m. along Northeast Northlake Way.   (Seattle Fire Department)When firefighters arrived, a storage facility with several boats was burning and the warehouse next to it caught on fire. Officials previously stated 42 boats were destroyed, but units at the scene confirmed about 30 boats had burned. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and found no one inside the warehouse.

The Sri Lanka Navy released 146 sea turtle hatchlings at Panama beach on 21st March 2023, in a bid to save these endangered marine animal.The Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda was also in attendance on this occasion where the hatchlings were released. As part of the Turtle Conservation Project of the Sri Lanka Navy, the eggs of these hatchlings were conserved at the Turtle Conservation Unit in SLNS Mahanaga.Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera the Navy conducts a Turtle Conservation Project in a bid to save these endangered marine species. The project ensures the conservation of sea turtle eggs and the safe release of hatchlings into the ocean. Apart from the navy-managed Turtle Conservation Centre in Panama area similar initiatives are being conducted in Mirissa, Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Balapitiya, Bentota, Moragolla, Panadura, Mount Lavinia, Dehiwala, Wellawatta, Nilaveli, and Pasikuda by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.The eggs of released sea turtle hatchlings were conserved by the Turtle Conservation Unit at SLNS Mahanaga in the Southeastern Naval Command. Further, the unit has thus far released 14,027 sea turtle hatchlings into the ocean, since its establishment.Moreover, the Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard conserved eggs and released 10755 hatchlings into the ocean in 2022.Meanwhile, thus far in 2023 it has sent 5886 hatchlings into their natural habitat.

PHILADELPHIA - A man is dead after police say he was found shot nearly 10 times on a Philadelphia street Tuesday night. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 100 block of East Indiana Street just after 8 p.m.

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. - Crews of first responders are on scene at two Cape May County beaches due to a report of beached dolphins. Authorities confirmed with FOX 29 that a total of eight dolphins are stranded, including six at the 52nd Street beach and two at the beach on 50th Street. Police and medics responded to pour water on the dolphins, according to officials. Crews of first responders are on scene at two beaches in Sea Isle City, where dolphins are stranded in the sand.
