DEPTFORD, N.J. - A man put a police officer in a chokehold before a bystander came to his aid during a struggle at a New Jersey mall, police said.Deptford Township police said officers were sent to the Deptford Mall just after 7:30 p.m. Friday on a report of a disorderly man allegedly harassing patrons.A uniformed officer found the man on the second floor of the mall and asked him to leave multiple times but he refused to do so and "allegedly became confrontational," eventually taking a fighting stance, police said.As the officer tried to arrest him on defiant trespass and disorderly conduct charges, a struggle ensued during which the man was able to put a chokehold on the officer, "effectively cutting off" his blood and oxygen supply, police said.During the struggle, a bystander interceded and helped the officer escape the chokehold and get the man into handcuffs, police said.

PHILADELPHIA - Emergency crews are on the scene of a barricade situation involving two young children in West Philadelphia Sunday evening.Police say a domestic dispute inside a home on the 500 block of Wanamaker Street escalated after a woman was pistol whipped by the male suspect.The woman made it outside, but the man remained inside with two small children, according to authorities. LEVITTOWN, Pa. - A somber celebration was held Thursday to recognize the completion of a sidewalk project that was spearheaded by a Pennsylvania mother whose son was fatally struck by a car over a decade ago. John Rearick was killed in July 2012 while walking along a stretch of New Falls Road in Levittown. PHILADELPHIA - A parking lot ATM outside a shopping center near one of Philadelphia's busiest roadways has become the site of a recent stretch of violent crimes that may have been carried out by the same group.The Bank of America ATM tucked in the corner of Roosevelt Plaza Shopping Center is where police say a 53-year-old man was shot twice Wednesday night while using the machine. Police found the victim - who has not been pubically identified - laying next to his car and rushed him to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. Investigators believe the man, who police say lives nearby the shopping center, was trying to use the ATM when someone shot him. Portraits, signed and dated by Rembrandt in 1635, are going up for auction at Christies in London The last known pair of privately owned Rembrandt portraits have resurfaced after nearly 200 years in hiding.Christie’s in London says the portraits, signed and dated by Rembrandt in 1635, were of the famed painter’s relatives and remained in the family until 1760. They were sold and passed on to various private art collections until 1824, when an ancestor of the current owners bought them at a Christie’s auction.The portraits have remained in that private collection for nearly 200 years, "completely unknown to scholars."
