Mr Cummings told a Parliamentary committee on Wednesday that he recommended to Boris Johnson that Mr Hancock should be fired over coronavirus failings.
The Prime Minister’s former adviser said there were around 20 reasons why Mr Hancock should have been given the sack – including, he claimed, lying both in Cabinet room meetings and publicly.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, a spokesman for Mr Hancock said they 'absolutely reject Mr Cummings’ claims about the Health Secretary'.
