PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured. According to authorities, the shooting occurred on the 700 block of E Hilton Street around 10:09 a.m.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - A man killed in a shooting in Hacienda Heights Saturday has been identified as an Auxiliary Bishop with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.Bishop David O'Connell was killed in the shooting that happened just before 1 p.m. in the 1500 block of Janlu Avenue. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, O'Connell was shot in the upper torso, and pronounced dead at the scene.

PHILADELPHIA - A 23-year-old mother is now being charged in connection to the abuse of her own children after a 3-year-old child was found unresponsive and bruised in her West Philadelphia home on Friday. Police made the horrifying discovery when responding to a residence on the 400 block of 50th Street around 2:30 a.m. The 3-year-old was pronounced dead at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia a short time later.Officials say the young girl was unresponsive in a bathtub with no water, and had bruises on her body.Two other children, ages 2 and 4, found inside the home were also transported to a local hospital for bruises and burns to their bodies, according to authorities. MORE HEADLINES:Officials say they are the children of Kiarali Rodriguez-Ayala, who has been arrested and charged for their violent abuse. The 3-year-old child is said not be a relative of Rodriguez-Ayala, but was under her care at the time. An investigation into her death is still active with the Special Victims Unit.

Kymani Roberts NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. - Delaware State Police say suspects led police on a vehicle and foot pursuit after carrying out a carjacking outside an LA Fitness parking lot Friday morning.A 48-year-old man was sitting in his locked car when he was approached by a group in the parking lot at 900 Eden Circle in New Castle County.The victim told police that one man tried to get into the back of the car, while another stood pointing a gun at him demanding he get out and hand over his keys. He complied, and was not injured.MORE HEADLINES:The suspects were unable to reverse the stolen car, and instead got into another car to flee the scene.Trooper pursued until the car crashed in Wilmington, and the driver attempted to run away.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A man has been ordered to stand trial in the shooting death of one police officer and the wounding of another in western Pennsylvania earlier this month.Johnathan Jermia Morris, 31, of McKeesport is charged in Allegheny County with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and assault of a law enforcement officer and firearms crimes in the Feb. 6 shootings in McKeesport, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Pittsburgh.Authorities have said that officers were called to a home over a dispute involving a man who police said was having a "mental health crisis." Police allege they caught up with him after he walked away, and he "suddenly produced a handgun" and shot them.

Two male suspects were seen fleeing south on 51st Street from Hadfield after the shooting.

(FIle Photo) PHILADELPHIA - Two people were arrested and charged after police say they used an empty baby stroller to steal fragrances from a Pennsylvania beauty store.Pennsylvania State Police say troopers responded to the Ulta Beauty at 833 North Krocks Road in Lower Macungie Township on Thursday afternoon for a report of retail theft. Police say two suspects, a 22-year-old man and 32-year-old woman from New Jersey, entered the store pushing a baby stroller. There was no baby inside.MORE HEADLINES: The suspects were then observed taking multiple fragrance bottles from the store shelves and placing them in the unoccupied stroller before leaving the store, according to police. After further investigation, Pennsylvania State Police later learned the same man and woman had gone into an Ulta store in Spring Township, Berks County. Spring Township police responded to that location and took the suspects into custody.

North Carolina man developed an "uncontrollable Irish accent" until his death after being treated for prostate cancer, according to research published in the British Medical Journal.The patient, who was only identified as a man in his 50s, was presumably afflicted with foreign accent syndrome (FAS) after receiving androgen deprivation therapy and being prescribed abiraterone acetate/prednisone.The report said the man lived in England during his 20s and had friends and distant family members from Ireland, but had never visited the country or spoken with the foreign accent."His accent was uncontrollable, present in all settings and gradually became persistent," the four researchers wrote in their report, adding that it first began 20 months into his treatment.WALKING DEAD SYNDROME AND OTHER RARE CONDITIONS THAT BAFFLE DOCTORS AND RESEARCHERSSeveral similar cases have been studied across the globe in recent years, but this was reportedly the first case of FAS described in a patient with prostate cancer and the third described in a patient with malignancy.The researchers believe his voice change was caused by a condition called paraneoplastic neurological disorder (PND), which happens when cancer patients' immune systems attack parts of their brain, muscles, nerves and spinal cord."Despite chemotherapy, his neuroendocrine prostate cancer progressed resulting in multifocal brain metastases and a likely paraneoplastic ascending paralysis leading to his death," they wrote.Even as his condition worsened, the accent remained until his death months later. The report said the man did not have any neurological examination abnormalities or psychiatric history.
