French bulldog thefts: Breed being targeted by thieves due to price, rise in popularity
PHILADELPHIA - The popularity of the French bulldog has increased over the years and so have thefts of the breed. According to the American Kennel Club's list of the most popular dog breeds in 2021, the French Bulldog ranked number two. The canine has exceeded expectations and surpassed the popularity of other top-ranked dogs such as the German Shepard and Golden Retriever.French Bulldog Village Rescue board member Cara Berarado joined "Good Day Philadelphia" to highlight the issue of increased French Bulldog thefts. RELATED HEADLINESFox 29 anchor Mike Jerrick asked the burning question, "The screaming question is, why are people stealing them?"Berarado says the value of each French Bulldog may be motivation for theft as they range in price from $5,000 to $10,000. In 2021, singer and actress, Lady Gaga was a victim of two of her French Bulldogs being stolen. The Los Angeles Police Department believed the motive behind the robbery was the value of the dogs rather than the platform of the owner. Locally, a Philadelphia man spoke to FOX 29 after his French Bulldog puppy named Chaos was stolen from his home on the 4800 block of Darrah Street. French Bulldogs wearing bandanas in the colours of the Ukrainian flag rest in their pen on the first day of the Crufts dog show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, central England, on March 10, 2022.

Maritime Pacts with India pose NO threat to National Security – MOD
COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Defence Ministry has issued a clarification with regard to the security pacts signed with India over a Floating Dock, Dornier Reconnaissance Aircraft, and Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Colombo (MRCC).The recently signed maritime security pacts with the Government of India will neither result in hindrance nor threat to the national security of Sri Lanka, as misinterpreted by several print and electronic media, said the Ministry of Defence. The receipt of the Floating Dock Facility from the government of India at no cost has been projected to reduce the annual outlay of Rs. 600 million for outsourced docking repairs and this proposal has been in the pipeline since the year 2015.The Dornier Reconnaissance Aircraft is basically deployed for maritime surveillance, search and rescue operations and to deliver information to various required platforms. The unavailability of this capability was the motive for bilateral dialogues between the Governments of India and Sri Lanka during the last couple of years and it was agreed upon to provide one Dornier Reconnaissance Aircraft to Sri Lanka free of charge, it added.Accordingly, during the period earmarked for the manufacturing process of said aircraft’ the Government of India will lend a similar aircraft which will be piloted by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) pilots.

In response to a Request for Federal Assistance from @MBGov, @redcrosscan personnel will deploy to help manage COVID-19 outbreaks in the province.— Bill Blair (@BillBlair) March 1, 2022 Manitoba asks feds to send ICU nurses amid worsening COVID-19 health care crisis According to a spokesperson from the province, that help comes in the form of three Red Cross nurses currently working out of Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, who will continue to do so until mid-March.“This is simply a request for continued support of human health resources (nurses) to augment Manitoba’s COVID-19 response,” the spokesperson said.“While Manitoba’s COVID-19 case counts and hospitalization numbers continue to trend downwards, Manitoba’s ICU and acute care centres continue to be a few weeks behind those trends.“We appreciate the assistance from the federal government as we continue to add capacity in our health system to ensure Manitobans get the care they need, for COVID and other medical matters.”Red Cross spokesperson Jason Small said this is a continuation of support for Manitoba that began in late December.“We have had up to eight nurses working in support of the response,” he said.“At the moment, we have the three who have been extended for an additional two weeks.
