Court docs show how police nabbed woman accused of aiding Philadelphia prison escape

PHILADELPHIA - Court documents reveal how investigators were able to tie a formerly incarcerated woman to the orchestrated escape of two Philadelphia inmates that sparked a citywide manhunt. Xianni Stalling, 21, was taken into custody Thursday in connection to the Sunday night escape of Ameen Hust, 18, and Nasir Grant, 24, from Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center. The inmates were absent for three headcounts in the hours following their escape, but prison officials say they were not aware Hurst and Grant were gone until late Monday afternoon. Sources told FOX 29 the inmates' cell doors and the door to a recreation yard were left unlocked, which allowed the duo to pass through undetected before escaping through a hole in a fence. From there, an affidavit claims Hurst and Grant were able to climb over two additional barbed wire fences and onto the 8300 block of State Road. The woman has been charged with criminal conspiracy, hindering apprehension, escape and use of a communication facility, according to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner.Documents show that three hours before the escape, Hurst had a phone conversation with an unknown man during which he made arrangements to be picked up near a bridge behind the prison.Authorities believe that Xianni Stallings helped facilitate that conversation, and alluded to Hurst and Grant's escape during a video call with another prisoner a day later. During that conversation, court documents say Stallings appeared shocked that the unnamed inmate she spoke to hadn't heard about the prison break. "You had the opportunity to run from jail," Stallings is allegedly heard saying.

Glossy Nails Boutique and Sixx Degrees Media partnered to give the group of mothers the special day. Michelle De Jesus lost two sons to gun violence and she says Mother's Day never gets easier. She says she lost one son in the month of July and the other son in August, making the summer months difficult for her. "I know God wanted his sons so he took them, but the guns have got to stop. It's really sad," she said. Movita Johnson Harrell, a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, also lost two sons to gun violence. According to officials, police responded to a car fire in the area of Sylvester and Howell Streets in the Oxford Circle section of the city just before 1 a.m. Police say officers and medics arrived on scene to find a Honda CRV fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire department put out the flames, authorities say they realized there was a body in the back seat. The individual in the back seat was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small, who says the body was burned beyond recognition. According to police, the car was parked there just before 1 a.m. and two people got out before the vehicle went up in flames. The person's cause of death remains under investigation, Small says. Police: Man accidentally shot with own gun during struggle with police in East Germantown

PHILADELPHIA - A man was hospitalized after authorities say his gun accidentally went off during a struggle with police Monday afternoon in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to 5700 block of North 21st Street around 4 p.m. for reports of a person with a gun, according to police. Responding officers were flagged down by a man armed with a gun who police say had fatally shot a dog. The agency is Philadelphia's only animal care and control provider that helps the community with an open intake of animals. According to the group, a second shelter needs to be temporarily created to hold dogs exposed to canine flu for up to one month. As recent cases of canine influenza continue to spread quickly, ACCT Philly says it will need a different place to hold dogs exposed to respiratory viruses. With an average of 100 dogs coming into the shelter each week, ACCT Philly says it cannot close intake services as no other organization can handle the influx of animals. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to the nonprofit, they must house sick dogs in a separate space in the building, but the temporary space is only able to hold 50 dogs. There are currently 120 dogs that need housing, which means about 70 dogs will need to find placement by Monday, April 24 in addition to dogs continuing to come into the shelter. "There is no good time to do something like this, but unfortunately, with the number of dogs who are getting sick, we don't have a humane alternative," ACCT Executive Director Sarah Barnett said.

Multiple suspects sought for theft of about $200k worth of dimes from trailer in Philadelphia Walmart lot

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department continues its search for suspects connected to the theft of thousands worth of dimes from a truck in Philadelphia. Authorities say officers responded to the parking lot of a Walmart on Byberry Road in the Northeast section of the city. Investigators say responding officers found an unmarked trailer, which contained about $750,000 worth of dimes, broken open. Police say the initial call came in as a theft with a group of ten more males stealing from the trailer. Police say they are searching for multiple male suspects in addition to a white Chrysler 300 and a dark-colored pickup truck. Authorities say about $200,000 worth of dimes were stolen in the heist. Authorities say a parked trailer containing $750k in dimes was broken into overnight. Police found dimes scattered throughout the parking lot and down the street in the aftermath of the heist.
