HADDONFIELD, N.J. - Images of hate were painted on trees in Haddonfield over the weekend. The Quakers are long known as pacifists but they said they can't stay silent after swastikas were painted on trees in the South Jersey town. Police say vandals painted two of the hateful symbols on trees at the entrance to the Haddonfield Friends Cemetery, which sits between the Quaker Meeting House and the Friends School. Third-grader Sophia Selina saw the hateful symbols and spoke to FOX 29's JoAnn Pileggi. ‘It was horrible," she said. "I couldn’t believe my eyes and I don't know why anyone would do it." Residents wonder if the incident was random or a deliberate act. The Department of Public Works covered the hateful symbols with paint and police are investigating. Members of the Friends Meeting House decorated the fence and placed signs of love and peace where the hateful symbols were covered. They hope to spread the message that love and peace will prevail over hate. Haddonfield Mayor Colleen Bianco Bezich released a statement on the incident, saying, "I am disgusted by the swastikas and grateful to our Haddonfield Police Department and Department of Public Works for responding, reporting, and working to clean up these signs.

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - A South Jersey mom says she has a ‘Hail Mary’ of a request — and thousands of people are now sharing her plea for help on Facebook.Kim O’Callaghan says she saved more than a decade of her son’s t-shirts and jerseys, and had a quilt made for him, that he can bring to his first year of college at Franklin Marshall later this summer."It’s something they can actually wrap themselves up in if they’re homesick, things like that, in their first year of college especially," she says.In late-May, when dropping off what she thought was a bag of leftover shirts she didn’t use for the quilt at a Goodwill in Haddonfield, she accidentally dropped off the quilt instead.O’Callaghan says she had no idea until she went to wrap the quilt on Saturday, and found the leftover shirts in the tote instead."That moment when I realized what I had done was just horrible," O’Callaghan said.After searching at a number of local Goodwill locations, Kim decided to post about what happened on Facebook. It instantly took off—getting thousands of shares."I thought maybe if I just put this on there, maybe 10 to 15 of my family members will share it, who knows I might get lucky," O’Callaghan said.

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - Love was in the air on Valentine's Day in one New Jersey community where dozens of married couples gathered to renew their wedding vows. The vow renewal happened in front of the Open Heart Sculpture on King's Court in Haddonfield. Married couples both new and old partook in the annual Valentine's Day event."We've actually been doing it since it started five years ago, it's just a fun way to celebrate," Suzanne Anderson from Port Richmond said.Some couples even brought along their children to share in the special occasion.

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - Police in New Jersey recently stopped two stolen cars from being shipped overseas after they were boosted in Camden County and driven to a busy port in the northern part of the state. Authorities in Haddonfield on Thursday said car thieves can tell if some vehicles are unlocked by noticing if its sideview mirrors are not "retracted in."
