PHILADELPHIA - Members of the Philadelphia Police Department's Shooting Investigation Group are investigating a double shooting that left two men injured early Thursday morning. According to police, the incident happened on W Indiana Avenue just after 12:15 a.m. Officials say a 48-year-old man was shot once in the right thigh.

That fire started just after midnight Friday and was burning toward 40 homes before crews managed to move the blaze away from the structures. Residents weren’t evacuated but were protected within their homes, some using garden hoses to help as crews worked in the backyards to conduct backfires and burnout operations, officials said.Last week crews stifled a wildfire that burned 5,000 acres in Bass River State Forest which stretches across Ocean and Burlington counties in the Pinelands.

In those incidents, businesses with skill machines were targeted during overnight hours.Once inside, burglars tried to open cash registers, break into skill machines, or open safes.

American Airlines is allowing passengers to rebook their flights Thursday without fees as wildfire smoke from Canada is continuing to impact operations at airports throughout the Northeast. The airline says passengers traveling through certain airports in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., may now have their change fees waived if they bought tickets by June 7 and want to travel to the same destination city, among other conditions. "When severe weather or other uncontrollable events impact your flight and travel dates, you may be able to change your trip with no change fee," according to a portion of its website. LOWER MERION, Pa. - A Pennsylvania high school teacher is facing charges after investigators say he posed as a teenage girl on a social media app to solicit naked pictures from young girls. Jeremy Schobel, 32, was arrested Wednesday when federal authorities acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children searched his home in Philadelphia. A criminal complaint alleges that Schobel, an English teacher at Harriton High School in Lower Merion, posed as a 17-year-old girl on a social media app called Yubo. Schobel, according to a court documents, was allegedly using the app to find a girl-to-girl relationship and redirecting conversations to Snapchat where he would ask for explicit images. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESYubo closed two accounts that investigators said were linked to Schobel and contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a user "grooming minors" online. Authorities say after being arrest Schobel admitted to creating both fake profiles and posing as an underage girl to solicit explicit images of teenage girls. He also admitted to communicating with girls between 16-years-old and 18-years-old for years prior to his recent arrest, according to a criminal complaint. In a letter to families, the Lower Merion School District said they are not aware of any inappropriate interactions between Schobel and students.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Firefighters in New Jersey are battling another wildfire that sparked Tuesday as the state continue to navigate through a dangerous dry stretch. The New Jersey Forrest Fire Service said a blaze that broke around East Commodore Boulevard and Cedar Swamp Road in Jackson Township late Tuesday afternoon. At last check, officials said the fire had consumed about 15 acres of forest and was completely uncontained.The fire comes just days after a massive forest fire torched thousands of acres of woods in Burlington County, which prompted some evacuations and threatened nearby properties.New Jersey has endured a dangerous dry spell recently that fire officials say has helped provided ‘fuel’ for wildfires to run rampant.

RICHMOND, Va. - Seven people were shot, three of them with life-threatening injuries, after gunfire rang out near Virginia Commonwealth University in downtown Richmond following a high school graduation ceremony Tuesday, according to police and school district officials.Two suspects were taken into custody after the incident, Interim Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards said at a news conference.Edwards said officers inside a theater where the graduation was taking place heard the gunfire, went outside and saw multiple victims with gunshot wounds.Four had injuries that were not life-threatening, he said. Police did not believe there was any ongoing threat to the community."We're going to do everything we can to bring the individuals involved in this to justice," Mayor Levar Stoney said at the news conference.

PHILADELPHIA - Homelessness has long been a concern in Norristown, Pennsylvania now allegations that a public official threatened to bus the homeless out of town has turned it into a controversy.Under the shade of trees and tucked back from the Stony Creek, sits a gathering of tents and makeshift wooden homes where forty of Norristown’s homeless live. Among the encampment residents is 34-year-old Draya Lamacchia, she arrived a year ago when she lost her housing in Philadelphia. Lamacchia, a mother of three boys under 10-years-old who do not live with her, lives in a tent and fears losing what little she has by being forced out.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help to identify a man they say fired nearly 10 shots into an occupied building last month.The suspect was armed with a handgun when he opened fire on the 3300 block of Ridge Avenue in the early morning hours of May 31, according to authorities.Police say the building was occupied at the time, but have not said how many people were inside.
