(Credit: Okmulgee Fire Chief Dewayne Hurt) OKMULGEE, Oklahoma - Firefighters received a unique call after severe storms pushed through Oklahoma Wednesday.According to the Okmulgee Fire Department, officials responded to what was reported to be a lightning strike at an apartment complex in Okmulgee — about 40 miles south of Tulsa.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed lightning had struck the roof. More surprisingly, the lightning hit the exhaust fan and extended down to strike a unit’s toilet. "The fan was destroyed and the toilet bowl was severely damaged," Okmulgee’s Fire Chief Dewayne Hurt told FOX Television Stations Group. In addition, Hurt noted the crew had a small fire to extinguish in the insulation. According to local news outlet KWCH, the apartment complex said the unit was vacant but was set to be rented out Thursday morning.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is unsafe to take a shower or bath during a lightning storm.

(Polizia Roma Capitale via Storyful)Italian police were able to determine the car was a rental and managed to identify the driver as a 37-year-old man from Saudi Arabia. The driver was detained after he dropped off the rental car at Milan’s Malpensa Airport. The man had allegedly told authorities that he had gotten confused by his navigation system which led him to take the wrong turn onto the iconic staircase, according to local news media. A complaint has been filed against the man which includes aggravated damage to cultural and monumental assets, according to Italian police. The Spanish Steps were built at the beginning of the 18th century and connect the Piazza di Spagna (Square of Spain) to the Church of Trinità dei Monti. There are 135 steps that make up the staircase and are a popular tourist attraction.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Independent MP Udaya Gammanpila said that the Group of 10 Parties that quit the SLPP-led Government have decided to support Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government.However, he said that the group will NOT accept any ministerial position, but will get involved in the 15 committees proposed by the Prime Minister to discuss the issues of the people, and provide solutions to them.The Former Minister speaking to reporters following a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday (16) said the Prime Minister called for everyone to cast aside their party differences and engage in a collective effort to solve the crisis.“We informed the Prime Minister that it was our group that called for an All-Party Government in a letter to the President dated the 8th of April 2022,” said the MP.The Prime Minister had noted that the need to form a National Council comprising of all the party leaders, said Gammanpila adding that 15 committee will be appointed and those committees will be chaired by the political parties that refuse to accept ministerial positions.Gammanpila said the Group of 10 Parties will NOT accept any ministerial position, but will support the efforts made on economic recovery.“The Prime Minister said the current status will be assessed. A new budget is to be presented where a program until December 2022 will be prepared,” said Gammanpila.
