The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have praised student nurses for starting their profession amid a “baptism of fire”, as they continue to battle on the coronavirus front line.
Prince William and Kate spoke to young medics from Ulster University via video call to hear more about their experiences of studying during the pandemic.
The students also revealed how they had responded to the government's rallying cry for medical students, as they were projected forward from their training to undertake placements on the frontline of the COVID-19 response across the UK.
Wills said “It is very difficult for you guys to go straight into a pandemic, I would imagine. That’s really baptism by fire.” “It’s scary,” admitted one of the third year students.
