That’s what chemo does — it strips you of all your immune system. I had nothing to fight it,” he told the outlet. “COVID made my cancer look like nothing.” Jeff went on to say he was in the hospital for nearly five months and grappled with pain so intense he was unable to roll over without getting a nurse to help him with his oxygen supply. “I was pretty close to dying.

The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode. I was ready to go.

I was dancing with my mortality,” he shared. His health improved after receiving convalescent plasma treatment, which utilizes blood from people who have already recovered from an illness. “I started taking baby steps,” Jeff said, adding that he began doing physical therapy to get back in shape.
