Indie veterans Mystery Jets know all too well the power of the NHS and celebrate it on their new album. Out now, A Billion Heartbeats was originally due out last September but was delayed when singer Blaine Harrison needed surgery for spina bifida, which he was born with.
The album’s first single, Hospital Radio, is about the NHS and Blaine was in tears during the Clap for Carers NHS applause. Blaine told me: “I live near Great Ormond Street Hospital and went on my evening walk to be near the front entrance. “It affected me very profoundly because, like many people, I’ve relied hugely on the NHS. “It was an incredible feeling and, when ambulances went past with their sirens on, it was like a rave!” Now he is glad the album was delayed
