'Essential visits only' at flagship Scots hospital amid surge in Covid cases

A flagship Scots hospital is only allowing 'essential' visits amid increasing cases of coronavirus. NHS Highland has announced that all visiting has been restricted at Inverness' Raigmore Hospital and New Craigs Hospital to 'essential only to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 to patients and staff.' A number of wards at the hospital have had to close with health bosses saying there has been an 'unprecedented increase' in cases of the virus.

The measure comes as the nation continues the battle against the virus into the new year with the new Omicron variant causing havoc at Scots health boards.Today government chiefs announced a further 11,962 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland – with the virus claiming another 13
