Edinburgh University has warned over fears the new coronavirus strain is transmitted more easily among children. Professor Devi Sridhar, Chair of Global Public Health at the university's medical school, appeared on Good Morning Britain as she said the new variant is showing worrying signs.She said the government should delay reopening schools in the UK until the full impact of the variant has been assessed properly.
The existing Covid-19, which was first detected in the UK in January, was not thought to spread among children the same as it does with adults.
