Stormont's Minister for Health has said he needs to talk to other ministers before decisions can be taken about further relaxation of Northern Ireland's Covid-19 restrictions.
Robin Swann had sought legal advice about whether he could unilaterally make changes in the absence of the Executive. It collapsed when DUP First Minister Paul Givan resigned in protest last week over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Individual ministers have been able to continue in their respective roles. On Monday, Mr Swann said the Covid trends showed the time was right to consider lifting some restrictions.
Measures like mandatory face masks in retail and on public transport and Covid passports for nightclubs are still in place. This afternoon, he said he has received the "detailed legal advice" on factors which need to be considered before further changes could be made without executive approval. "This advice is now being given careful consideration and it is my intention to engage with ministerial colleagues," he said in a statement.
