Death of Manitoba man in his 40s linked to COVID-19 variant, 291 new cases reported

COVID-19 victim — a man in his 40s from the Winnipeg area — had been stricken ill by the B.1.1.7 variant, first identified in the United Kingdom.He is the 980th Manitoban with COVID-19 to die since March 2020, and his death is the 11th linked to a variant of concern.
