Dáil voting in Leinster House deemed 'unworkable' by report

Dáil voting is unlikely to return to Leinster House anytime soon after an offical report has concluded that proposals for TDs to vote safely were "unworkable in practice".

The report also said the proposals would have a significant negative impact on the efficiency of the House. The analysis by the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission also said that the proposed one-metre physical distancing cannot be operated safely.

Since June, some Dáil sittings have taken place at the Convention Centre to facilitate social distancing when all 160 TDs are present, as for voting.
