Crowds flock to parks and beaches in sunshine despite stark Covid warning

Parks and beaches were lively for a second day running as the UK enjoyed a fine weekend of sunny weather. Outdoor spaces were busy as people took advantage of the first signs of spring.

Being outdoors is not against coronavirus rules, and has been officially encouraged to boost health despite strict rules. But ahead of the weekend, officials had warned people in England only to go out for 'essential' reasons - alone, with their household or 'bubble', or one other person - and resist the temptation to take socialising in the sun too far.

Walkers, runners and cyclists took in the fresh blooms in parks, and many more headed out to beaches on Sunday as the UK waits for the coronavirus lockdown to ease.
