John Swinney has warned Scots may have to show Covid vaccine passports in pubs and restaurants. It is due to to “concerningly high” infection rates, the Deputy First Minister said, and fears the deadly virus could spread “very quickly” over Christmas. The coronavirus certification scheme requires people going to nightclubs and to other large-scale events – such as concerts and some football matches – to be able to prove they have received two doses of vaccine. Now it could be expanded to include smaller venues.Swinney said: “At slightly over 2500, the number of new cases each day is holding at a concerningly high level.“The situation is precarious and unpredictable.
