Scotland recorded its highest daily coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic in the last 24-hour period. A total of 20,217 people returned positive cases across the country with hospital admissions also rising in that time.
Figures published revealed that 65,860 new tests were carried out and 34.9 per cent were positive. Monday's figures include a note advising of delays in between tests being taken and results being reported, but saying Public Health Scotland is monitoring the situation.
There were 1,031 people in hospital on Sunday with recently confirmed covid and of these 38 were in intensive care. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will give an update to the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday about the rising number of cases
