There has been one further death from Covid-19 reported in the past 24 hours, the Department of Health has confirmed. The number of cases has risen by 24.
This brings the total death toll here to 1,764 with 25,869 confirmed cases. Earlier today, it was reported that more than 15.8 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 638,271 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
Yesterday the tally of confirmed cases here rose by 20 to 25,845 while the number of deaths stood at 1,763. The HSE has tweeted a reminder to the public on how they can help contain the spread of Covid-19.
