Ayrshire hospitals with the coronavirus has hit a new record high today.A total of 221 people were in hospital with confirmed coronavirus at midnight – up four from yesterday which itself was a record high at the time.Figures have been produced by the Scottish Government this afternoon as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing.No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours which means Scotland's death toll remains at 5,305.However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 7,704 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, January 10 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.
Across the UK, the figure was 87,295 as of last night.The number of positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
