Boris Johnson's trip to Delhi this month will still go ahead despite the Indian coronavirus variant and soaring cases in the country, No10 has said.
British officials hope the Prime Minister's visit will kickstart trade talks with India. But plans have already been scaled back and engagements will now take place over just one day.
However, the Government continues to resist calls to place India on its red list of countries from which direct travel is banned.
One No10 source strongly denied suggestions the reason India was being omitted was to avoid jeopardising trade talks. They described the claim as “total and utter bull***t”.
