PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect they say punched a woman in the face multiple times during a home invasion in Chinatown early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. inside a third-floor apartment on the 900 block of Winter Street. Police say the victim, a 53-year-old woman, was inside the apartment when she heard a knock on the door that is located in the lobby. She opened the door and a male suspect armed with a 10-inch knife shoved her into the apartment's kitchen while demanding money. According to police, the suspect pushed the victim into her bedroom and punched her in the face several times.

PHILADELPHIA - An hours-long standoff in Overbrook ended with an arrest after authorities said a man called police on himself and claimed to have possibly shot someone.The barricade started just after 7 p.m. on the 6100 block of West Columbia Avenue, according to investigators. Police said the suspect called police and said he was armed and possibly shot someone. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWhen police arrived at the home, the man refused to come out and a nearly three hours long barricade started.A preliminary report from police said that it's possible that a woman and a teenage girl were also inside the property. The barricade ended just after 10:30, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - Officials say a body that was found Wednesday morning outside a Philadelphia all-girls high school is not a current student. Philadelphia High School for Girls Principal Lisa Mesi confirmed Wednesday night that the body of an "unidentified female" was found outside the school building around 6:30 a.m. Mesi said the school contacted authorities after the gruesome discovery and the body was taken to a local hospital."We can assure you that our staff is working diligently to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for our students while police conduct this investigation," Mesi said in a letter to families. The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating the incident, but they have not shared comments as of this writing. The Philadelphia High School for Girls is offering counseling through the School District of Philadelphia's Office of Prevention and Intervention.

PASADENA, Calif. - Shawn Laval Smith, the suspected killer of Brianna Kupfer, was taken into custody Wednesday in Pasadena in connection with the 24-year-old UCLA grad student's stabbing death, authorities confirmed to FOX 11.He was arrested by Pasadena police officers around 11:50 a.m. at a bus stop near the intersection of E. Colorado Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue, approximately 17 miles from the furniture store where Kupfer was murdered, officials said. LAPD has identified a suspect in the murder of Brianna Kupfer.

Police say the victim had just gotten into his car when he was approached by the armed suspect.  (FOX 29 Philadelphia)PHILADELPHIA - Authorities have announced charges against a second suspect in a carjacking that ended with one of the suspects being shot by a legally armed driver. Asiem Brooking, 18, has been arrested and charged with robbery, carjacking, and related offenses in connection with the Jan. 11 incident, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday. Authorities alleged that Brooking drove Aden Koimene, 18, to the scene of the attempted carjacking and then to the hospital after Koimene was shot by the victim through the car's driver window. Koimene was shot in the face, neck, and hand but was not seriously injured.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the Tacony section late Tuesday ni ght. The shooting happened at the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Unruh Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. When police initially arrived to the scene, they found everything but a victim. Police say the shooting scene consisted of over 45 spent shell casings that came from three separate semi-automatic weapons.
