PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police is looking to identify two suspects accused of peppering a car with gunfire as it was crossing an intersection in West Oak Lane last month. Police say the shooting happened at 1900 E. Washington lane on March 11 just after 2 p.m. Captain John Walker told FOX 29 that an SUV with two men inside was crossing the intersection when two shooters on the sidewalk peppered the vehicle with gunfire. At the time, both men were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and placed in critical condition.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police confronted 6 armed men dressed in military attire on off-road motorbikes during a protest opposite the Parliament premises on Tuesday (5).These three motorbikes reportedly arrived from the direction of the parliament and did not have any registration number on them.Police officers were seen confronting them and questioning them, and even taking the keys off the bikes.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A second suspect has now been arrested in connection with the mass Sacramento shooting that claimed six lives and  injured 12 people.On Tuesday, Sacramento police said they arrested 27-year-old Smiley Martin, who was injured during the early Sunday morning deadly event at 10 and K streets. It appears as though he was one of the dozen who suffered injuries. Police said once he recovers, he will be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a machine gun.As of Tuesday morning, Smiley Martin was not found in Sacramento jail, as he was still in the hospital.

COVID-19 receiving care, according to provincial data released Saturday.A total of 165people are in Ontario intensive care units (ICU).The figures represent a single-day increase in the number of people in hospital and a slight decrease in the number of ICU patients.On Friday, Ontario reported 804 people in hospital with 167 in intensive care.The week-over-week figures have increased, with 148 more people in hospital on April 2 compared to March 26. COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said that those arrested during Mirihana Protest will be prosecuted under the Penal Code and Public Property Act, and NOT under the PTA.Senior DIG & Senior Police Spokesperson Ajith Rohana speaking to reporters at the Department of Government Information on the Mirihana Protests said that Sri Lanka Police did not use any force on the peaceful protest that commenced at 6 PM until around 10:30 PM when certain groups started acting in a violent manner.“Sri Lanka Police ensured the right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression,” he said adding that by around 10:30 a group resorted to violent conduct and obstructed traffic, and thereafter caused damage to the tune of Rs. 39 Million.The Senior Police Officer said the Sri Lanka Police used force as per the provisions of the law, where at first a warning was given, and when the protestors did not comply water cannons were used, and thereafter tear gas was used, and eventually Sri Lanka Police had to use force to control the situation.Commenting on the damages caused to Sri Lanka Police he said three buses were damaged, 1 Police Bus was set on fire, 1 Sri Lanka Army Bus was badly damaged, 1 Police bike was destroyed, 1 Police jeep was also destroyed.He went on to note that 2 Police Special Task Force buses and a water cannot truck were also damaged.The Senior Cop also went on to note that 53 people were arrested for their involvement in the Mirihana Protest.The Senior Police Spokesperson added that 24 Police Officers including an ASP were injured during the Mirihana Protest, and 18 among them were members of the Police Special Task Force.

The government has issued new rules for who will be able to get free Covid-19 tests from today, April 1, as free mass PCR and lateral flow testing is brought to an end. The free testing will continue to be available to a number of groups - and will mostly require those people to have symptoms already, apart from a small list of scenarios where asymptomatic testing will be given.

Police said an officer was hit by a suspected drunk driver who was later arrested after he sped away. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a driver whose license was suspended last year for drunk driving was intoxicated when he plowed into a Philadelphia police officer Wednesday night. Terrell Lee, 41, was charged Thursday with a number of crimes including aggravated assault and aggravated assault while DUI. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that two officers were walking back to their car during a traffic stop on the 6700 block of Torresdale Avenue when the officer nearest the road was struck by a black Chevy that crossed over the double yellow lines. Small said the 44-year-old officer was launched 10 feet and landed on the northbound side of the road.

COLOMBO (News 1st) ; People have gathered to stage a protest near the President’s residence in Pengiriwatte road in Mirihana today (31).Police were seen on premises attempting to curb the situation, and the people have initiated the protest against the rising cost of living, gas shortage and the fuel shortage, in addition to the electricity crisis.Many were seen holding boards and participating in the protest.Heavy traffic in the area has been reported due to the protest, while Police have set up obstacles.People were seen jeering at the scene demanding for immediate solutions for the issues.
