New Delhi: Amid objections by the Kejriwal government to his order for mandatory five-day institutional quarantine for COVID-19 patients, Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday said it would be required for only those who do not need hospitalisation and do not have adequate facilities for home isolation.

The order of five-day mandatory institutional quarantine was opposed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia in a meeting of Delhi State Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Saturday.

The Lt Governor after the meeting said in a tweet, "Regarding institutional isolation, only those COVID positive cases which do not require hospitalisation on clinical assessment & do not have adequate facilities for home isolation.

NEW DELHI : Novel coronavirus tests will be doubled in Delhi in the next two days and subsequently increased by three times, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday after chairing a meeting on the spiralling cases of the pandemic in the city.Shah announced a slew of measures that will be taken now after he held a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baija and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his office in North Block.Coronavirus tests in Delhi will be doubled in the next two days and increased by three times after six days, he said.The COVID-19 tests will be started at every polling station in the containment zones of Delhi in a few days and a comprehensive house-to-house health survey will be done in the hotspots for contact

₹500 fine for not wearing masks, spitting in public

NEW DELHI : If you are caught not wearing a mask or spitting in the open in Delhi, you could be fined ₹500. To crack down on those violating rules of safety protocol to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has approved rules imposing a fine of ₹500 on those flouting quarantine rules, not wearing masks, not maintaining social distancing and chewing and spitting tobacco in public places in Delhi from today.Under the new rules, health department officials, district magistrates (DMs), sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and officers authorised by them, besides Delhi Police officers can impose fines on the spot.The new rules came in the wake of a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases in the national capital.
