PHILADELPHIA - Two teens were shot and injured in Philadelphia early Friday morning, police say. According to authorities, officers with the 22nd District responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 24th and Ridge Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Police say officers found two teenagers injured by gunfire. Officials say a 16-year-old was shot in the arm and an 18-year-old was shot multiple times, including in the back. The two were taken to Temple Hospital, where the 16-year-old was placed in stable condition and the 18-year-old was placed in critical condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESChief Inspector Scott Small says another crime scene was found in the area of 24th and Jefferson, where five spent shell casings were discovered. Authorities also say a Hyundai sedan in the area had the passenger side rear window broken and the driver's door was open. According to investigators, the car's owner told police someone had just broken into the vehicle, which had a broken steering column. Police are investigating to see if the two injured teens were attempting to steal the car.

DREXEL HILL, Pa. - Crozer Hospital in Delaware County will lay off more than 200 employees amid what hospital leaders call "growing financial pressures on hospitals and health systems." Crozer, located in Drexel Hill, closed its emergency room last year and claims It's still losing millions of dollars each month. As other hospitals and healthcare systems wade through treacherous waters to stay afloat, local leaders and concerned residents are wondering why Crozer can't also shoulder the burden. "They have consistently made poor financial decisions, and then these latest layoffs are really just another example of how they are unable to operate a functioning hospital system," Francis Sheehan of Foundation for Delaware County said. Sheehan asserts that nearby non-profit hospital chains are managing to get by with under massive oversight, but Crozer - which is under practically no oversight - is struggling. "It doesn't make any sense, because in the case of a not-for-profit system like Penn or CHOP or Jefferson or Main Line, do you have a community board over seeing things," Sheehan said. "You have to disclose your financial operation in engage the community in your work."Meanwhile, Crozer is laying off roughly 4% of its workforce under newly announced restructuring plans.

PHILADELPHIA - Federal authorities are searching for a man who they say threatened to blow up a Philadelphia bank during a robbery.Investigators say the suspect, described as a 5-foot-7 heavyset white man, entered the PNC Bank on the 1001 block of East Erie Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect, dressed in dark clothes with a face covering and gloves, handed the bank teller a note that authorities say threatened to detonate a concealed explosive device. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank, police said.
