With record 12,822 new Covid-19 cases in a day, Maharashtra tally crosses 5 lakh-mark

New Delhi: With record 12,822 new cases in the last 24 hours, coronavirus case tally in Maharashtra reached 5.03 lakh on Saturday.

This is the first time the state has ever witnessed over 12,000 cases in the span of a single day.Death toll rose to 17,367 with 275 more fatalities in the last 24 hours.There are 1,47,048 active cases in the state.Case fatality rate in the state stands at 3.45% as against national average of 2.04%.The number of recoveries in the state reached 3.38 lakh, including 11,081 in the last 24 hours.

Recovery rate in the state stands at 67.26%.So far, 26.4 lakh samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state, whose positive rate stands at 19%.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. - Washington Commanders safety Deshazor Everett has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal car crash that took the life of his girlfriend Olivia Peters. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Everett was charged after investigators determined he was driving over 90 mph just before the crash. Authorities say Everett, 29, turned himself into the Louduon County Adult Detention Center Tuesday afternoon. RELATED: Washington Football Team player discharged from hospital after car crash that killed Maryland womanBoth Everett and Peters were traveling north on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road in a 2010 Nissan GT-R the night of the crash in December 2021. Loudoun County Sherrif's Office said the vehicle the couple was in veered off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over.  Peters was taken to StoneSprings Hospital where she died from her injuries. Everett was taken to Reston Hospital Center and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Everett posted a $10,000 secured bond and has been released from custody.
